Hey fellas, I just wanted to get this off my chest. So I have been working this new job for 2 months transferred from within the company to this outfit, working on army helicopters now… site has about 100 some odd people. Out of these 100 people I am one of the few who does not have kids and no wife. Me being single and happily single at that I kinda stick out with these guys. Now its not in a bad way, no one has given me a s~~~fit about it yet, Im sure someone will at some point say something, but everyone there knows I ride motorcycles and enjoy my money I make. Ive had guys come up to me I dont know or just have seen in passing ask me about my ducati, everyone seems to know the bright red hypermotard is mine, im also one of a handful who actually ride bikes. Ive also told a few of these guys who have asked me if I will ever have kids, that I had gotten a vasectomy 2 years ago just because I dont want to go through the rigamoro with them and explain my stance on why I dont want kids or a wife, after hearing the “find the right girl” bs thousands of times now I dont care to hear it anymore.

Alot of these guys are shackled with debt and a wife that wont work. One of them is in a house with a mortgage the size of one of his checks, he often wonders why he doesnt have money every month, I feel really bad for him, hes a decent guy but I cant believe how these guys work themselves into this situation and think its normal. MANY of these guys have wives that don’t work… When I get asked why im not married yet I plan on borrowing some of keymasters responses “what for?” etc. One of them did ask me if I was married or had kids and I told him no, I like coming home to a quiet house, he didnt mean anything bad with his question either he was just trying to get to know me, I asked him the same question, hes been married 3x, with 5 kids……….

It’s just one of the questions you ask to make conversation. I ask it to older guys all the time, simply because I expect the answer to be yes. If he says no, I don’t really judge. Most people ask it if they’re trying to be friendly.

If I’m ever asked if I got a girlfriend, I just say “Naw bro, single life forever.”

LOl I’ve worked in those places too,often though when telling someone that I’ve never been married or had kids of my own they’ll say “whats the matter with you?”

So I always use my career in the service as an excuse but still in some places the women assume I must be gay.

Social programming is what makes them that way,I too know guys with good jobs but no disposible income because it’s all going to the house,wife,kids,cars and toys,then when times get tough the bank repossess it all.

Ya its amazing how much workplaces are usually like this. Im waiting for the shaming to begin at some point, though with everyone I have talked to so far thats asked no one has said anything about it

I’m glad where I work it’s usually just me and whoever comes through on their truck to get weighed. I think I may have been asked about getting married or something like that but it was a while back so I don’t remember how the convo went. And the only female I deal with is the dispatcher who comes in on Monday mornings when I finish my shifts for the week.
