Will sales in the US slump even further…
http://bgr.com/2018/01/03/movie-ticket-sales-2017-us-worst-in-years/
Will Metoo and the political ranting from Hollywood and the ideological content of new films themselves make a difference.
Women are so bad, if they changed the law so I kept the house, I still wouldn't marry one. I'd rather be homeless.
This is an perfect example of why companies who got in at the beginning are horrible at innovation.
You think the big movie studios had the idea to create watching films from the comfort of your own home? Nope. If they had their way we’d still be watching movies in theaters for the next 100 years.
They would have never created Netflix or Hulu.
Same with the music industry. We’d still be using cds if not for outside innovation (mp3, digital).
These dinosaur record labels sat there and watched as young innovators created Spotify, Napster… And then instead of appreciate it they doubled down and tried to shut it down.
Movie theaters won’t disappear all together just the way we still have horses but use cars now. They just won’t be the main place to watch movies anymore.
Anonymous42It’s a total waste of limited resources for the vast majority of the people, we’re still paying for all the governmental waste accumulating with deficit spending. People got use to living on a trimmed down lifestyle, many will not return to prior spending habits, we learned our lesson and now the starvation makes its way further up the economic ladders after wiping out the middle class.
I’m afraid it’s all part of a diabolical plan hatched by the globalists supper elites! For the last 2 decades it’s been bearing it’s fruit as our standard of living continues to deteriorate.
It’s only gotten better for the supper wealthy and nobody else.
2017 wasn’t exactly a banner year for movies. The only one I watched was Blade Runner. I am looking forward to the Death Wish remake and the new Dead Pool this year. But at 51, I guess I’m not the target audience anymore.
I don't hate women. I just feel better when they're not around.
Last time I went to the theater was treating pops to see Star Wars: The Phantom Menace lol. We were both disappointed aside from Darth Maul. We were both ticked when he got killed so soon.
No Wife - No Strife
There are still movie theaters? Damn, I surprised they have hung on this long.
Paying for the privilege of sitting in a darkened room with a bunch of strangers, consuming overpriced food and drinks and trying to find a parking spot underscore the fact that there are fewer movies worth the time it takes to watch them. Not only are movie theaters an outdated business model, so is Hollyweird.

Same here, Blade Runner. Actually, surprisingly good. Nothing else though.
As for being outside of the target demographic for advertising (18-49…whether actual age or mentally), this means the marketing world has statistically realized you are not going to be cost effectively influenced by emotional messaging, marketing BS, or comparison to the Jones’s. You are, for the lack a better term, a thinking adult (in theory). So this is a good thing me thinks.
Havent been to a theater in at least 15 years, maybe 20.
Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

Sovereignty above all else.
I will admit there are fewer pros than cons when it comes to going to a movie theatre but one of my favourite things abut going, and something that makes it at least somewhat special, is the experience of sharing a big moment during the movie(or when theatres, at least here in Toronto, were showing WWE PPV events) with all those people. It’s just not the same, in my opinion, if you’re watching a movie at home by yourself. Maybe it’s just me, I don’t know, but sharing the moment with others, even if they’re total strangers, is better and gives me a greater feeling than just experiencing something by myself.
I, Lelouch Vi Britannia, command you, all of you, to Go Your Own Way!!
One year isn’t exactly a big enough trend to draw much of a conclusion from, but I could see this becoming a multi year trend if the big producers want to keep jamming an agenda down our throats…I’m looking at you The Last Jedi.

It is a multi-year trend. A year ago they were complaining that 2016 was the worst year ever. And before 2016 it was 2015. Rinse. Repeat.
Hollywood has gone through slumps and resurgences, but this time the money really is drying up.

I agree on Deadpool 2. I am tempted to see New Mutants to see how a horror film of the superhero genre can work.
Of course Avengers Infinity War is a must. Ant-Man and Wasp looks interesting.
I am on the fence when is comes to the Black Panther movie. A lot of political BS surrounding that film.
Personally, I believe Chadwick Boseman nailed the Black Panther in Captain America Civil War. Mr Boseman portrayed the Black Panther with just the right mix of royal reserve and firmness without coming off as snobbish or arrogant. For a role like that, this is a difficult task to pull off. And Mr Boseman is reprising his role as the Black Panther in the movie. If that movie has problems it will not be due to him.
Also, there is the Super Troopers 2 coming out in April. The previews are hilarious. The cast is back and as crazy as ever.
Every place this liberal leftist agenda is being pushed is sending the fan base away in droves. The list is extensive. Just to name a few NFL, movies, tv, cable shows like espn, cnn.

Black Panther was great in CW but I am worried about politics in that film too. Plus there looks to be loads of girl power s~~~ as well from the trailers. And how many times am I going to read “first black superhero film” when Blade came out 20 years ago?! F~~~ing hell, SJWs only work from -current year- and don’t have the brain power to check a bit of history
IW might be my last Marvel film depending how it pans out but I am looking forward to it (I have a horrible feeling that Captain Marvel will ride in to save the day feminist style)
from that Antman 2 trailer it looks like it is going to go down the Mad Max Fury Road route and have AM play a bit part in his own film to an azz kickingz woman
I am really only interested in the DC films now and funnily enough they are the most equal in terms of the sexes. Wonder Woman is no Mary Sue like Rey and women get killed just as much as the men do (I am still convinced that is part of the reason those films get panned so much), plus Amy Adams is in those films
sexy, ginger milf
There are a few Decent movies worth seeing this year.
Marriage and Divorce for a man is like getting a cactus shoved up your ass. It’s painful with all the spines that go in and it is painful getting all the spines out, meanwhile Wifey gets most of the money, your home, your kids, and practically everything you own.
There are a multitude of factors that are causing the death of movie theatres. I do think the content isn’t as good overall. That has somewhat to do with embedded political agendas and partly to do with the fact that it’s all been done before. IMO, the same goes for music. Today’s music sounds either poorly done or a rehash of old ideas.
I also think the changes in home consumption has had a tremendous impact. It’s not so much that streaming has allowed people to watch moves at home for cheaper, but that quality, profitable content can be produced in something other than single 2 hour format. It used to be that any series had to be ‘clean’ and non risky because it was public, and it had to allow a consumer to pickup the show at any time. So it just couldn’t be that deep.
That’s not true at all now. You don’t have to worry about ratings and you can create series without concern for someone picking it up in the middle. It’s create a new and better way to tell a story in a long format. And from all appearances it looks to be rather profitable.
They also appear to be drawing better acting talent. It used to be that tv actors would jump to move acting whenever they could and never look back. Not so anymore. Quality actors are finding a home in series. It’s not at all uncommon to see movie actors move back to doing series.
I’d even say that the new format allows for better writing. The writing doesn’t have to appeal to the masses and doesn’t have to rush proper character development.
Just look at the Daredevil series actor, Vicent D’Onofrio, playing Kingpin as an example. It’s well thought that his acting is the best depiction of a villain in all of the MCU. Can you imagine this character working in a movie format? No way. And 20 years ago, D’Onofrio would never even taken the wrong since there was little money to be had in a tv series, nor would it display your acting talents.
I’d also argue that the quality of movie theatres, though never really great, hasn’t improved much over time despite the price going up. It’s a still a rather dirty place where you have to deal with annoying strangers.
Ok. Then do it.
