Well, I, for once, agree with her. We should behave more like romance heroes.

You see, Verne’s romances involved men doing their own thing, conquering the world and getting rid of the evil in the world.

Many more authors of old romances are like that too. It is ALWAYS the bitch who leaves clear that she wants to have him, because he is the prize, not her. So, they made themselves available, they helped, they at least faked an interest in what the hero was doing, before he bedded her.
