moderation is needed

I am forced to make this thread because I see that we are headed in the wrong path. Perhaps I’m wrong, but tell me I’m wrong.

Here is why that “mute” function is no good.

You can have several imposters make new accounts, bite their time to join the site, gain member status and then, vote to mute other legitimate members. For Christ sake, you have many members from before who have gone to a competitive site and can use their accounts to wreak havoc on this place. Your idea of muting is not good. With all due respect, no rudeness meant.

IF you, keymaster, are away, then a bunch of s~~~heads similar to Gargamel (I know he is gone) can act together to turn a long time member with years of reps, to spectator status. This is a nightmare scenario.

Keymaster, if you want this site to work well, you are going to have to put in the system, however difficult, for it to work well. Many large forums around the net trust their most senior members to act as moderators. There are plenty to choose here. WE NEED MODS, with limited power, to keep this place in line.

Please, listen to my advice. Don’t allow “tunas” who at first may act like legitimate new members act to destroy this place. Moderation is a necessary part of having a large forum like this. Why not make it necessary for a majority of moderators vote necessary to kick a troll out. That way, there’s actually a democratic way of doing this and no single moderator has complete power?

I’ve said my peace and I leave it up to you guys to follow through. Because I will guarantee that what happened before will happen again.

We need ‘something’ and I agree the vote system would promote cliques and witch hunts and silence members others don’t like.

It would be a disaster.

Also too many cooks spoil the broth.

We just need one trust worthy moderator when KM is not here. Two at a push.

One or two is not enough. people can have emergencies or other crap that will pull them away from the site. There has to be several..

Jesus Christ guys, KM just came back literally yesterday and already addressed this. KM said he will be putting something forward to us all for opinions on how to tackle this. Let’s be a little more patient. We are heading in the right direction, obviously not as fast as many here would like, but many seem to forget that KM has a life.

Despite his absence, the place still survived. The garbage that went on in KM’s absence has been brought to his attention, and I guarantee something effective will be done to stop it in future. We just need to:

1. Be patient; and

2. Do not feed the trolls should any appear again in the mean time.

Just look at this web site, look at it. This place is awesome and has only improved with time. Now go look at the other two web sites that old members have left for. Have you seen those places? Nowhere near the amount of work put into this place can be found anywhere else in the manosphere. This web site will be remembered in the future as a bastion of MGTOW philosophy. The content here also is top shelf because we have (and have had in the past) great menbers who have contributed their wisdom and experience that we all love and are grateful for.

It bothered me watching brothers fall for trolling recently, and it also bothers me with the impatience. This place will get better, just be patient and keep up with the red pills. We will get there.

For what it matters,

I like the idea of multiple anonymous moderators. I think that You need enough to realistically cover 24/7/365, and not all moderators will be present daily or equally throughout the week/month etc.

I can see how the “mute” function can definitely be misused/abused by some, and I don’t see the need if there are enough moderators on line often enough.

I’m not trying to tell KM how to steer his ship, but since we are free to add our 2 cents about everything else, I don’t see this “topic” as any different.
