Had an argument with my friend. Now i love both these cars but they both have diffrent purposes. An evo is literally made for the track and the sti imo is a more reliable daily driver meant for a little fun.
Take for instance the evo can make great power gains pretty cheaply but at what cost ? Sure it can handle the power but everyone i know has had problems , espically with the clutch in evos.
Now take the sti for example. You need to invest more money into it and rebuild the block and spend alot on support mods to get decent track power ex 500whp.
Well my friend tried telling me the evo is just as reliable as the sti. Even when modded. Imo the sti is alot more reliable and a better all around car.
What do you guys think ?

One’s a more a track car. The other is more a rally car. They’re hard to compare.
I wish they made the STi in a hatchback like the old WRX Sportwagons. That would make it a much better all-around driver. Then again I wish Subaru would bring their diesel to the U.S. They never listen to me.
Both cars are good, I favor the Lancer Evo but that’s just personal preference, the car I drive is a 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer SE.
I have a truck and sports car. One is fun, one is utility.

Both will go fast enough to lose your license &/or kill yourself on public streets.
Both were rally weapons in the right hands — see Makinen vs. McRae. Neither were designed to be track beasts.
Once you start talking mods – really, who cares? The Subaru 5 speed was notoriously weak once you start modding the engine or putting tougher clutches in. The USDM STI (2.5) engine is a bit weak and can’t handle boost without mods. The JDM EJ207 is much tougher out of the box and can get good power with bolt-on mods.
Both Evo and Rex’s have their strengths and weaknesses.
Anonymous1Bring back group B.
They both pale into insignificance compared to the Delta S4.
