“How otherwise shall families continue? How can the commonwealth be preserved if we neither marry nor produce children? Surely you are not expecting some to spring up from the earth to succeed to your goods and to public affairs, as myths describe. It is neither pleasing to Heaven nor creditable that our race should cease and the name of Romans meet extinguishment in us, and the city be given up to foreigners,—Greek or even barbarians. We liberate slaves chiefly for the purpose of making out of them as many citizens as possible; we give our allies a share in the government that our numbers may increase: yet you, Romans of the original stock, including Quintii, Valerii, Iulli, are eager that your families and names at once shall perish with you.”

    Caesar Augustus

    ………..

    And in Greece also

“In our time all Greece was visited by a dearth of children and generally a decay of population, owing to which the cities were denuded of inhabitants, and a failure of productiveness resulted, though there were no long-continued wars or serious pestilences among us…. For this evil grew upon us rapidly, and without attracting attention, by our men becoming perverted to a passion for show and money and the pleasures of an idle life, and accordingly either not marrying at all, or, if they did marry, refusing to rear the children that were born, or at most one or two out of a great number, for the sake of leaving them well off or bringing them up in extravagant luxury.”

    Greek historian Polybius

It should be known by ALL that men can and will get fed up to a point that they walk away …

Great quotes. It could have been written today and would be as true. It only makes sense that humans would go in and out of fertility cycles.

If such shifts are inevitable then the came upon us is indeed swift. Once women stop reproducing our enemies win from within.

I wounder how people stopped having many children in the past with no birth control or abortions?

My great grandmother who emigrated here had 13 kids. My grandmother 3 and my mother 3. My sister has two and I have one.

One of the main reason’s I wouldn’t have had 3 or more was that it seems overwhelmingly difficult to give 3 children all the time and attention one or two have.

    Just like the Roman’s.

#icethemout; Remember Thomas Ball. He died for your children.

You hear all sorts of theories about how the Roman empire fell, but never the real reason: gynocentrism. When no-fault divorce and sine manu marriage were introduced, birth rates immediately began a steady decline, and not even bachelor taxes could reverse the trend. To stave off the shrinking, the government began importing more and more foreigners into Rome. Well, we all know the effect of mass immigration on an economy. When the barbarians invaded, Rome was too emasculated and helpless to put up a fight.

Rome fell for the same reason all empires fall – over expansion and rotted from within.

In the Roman and Greek cases, the decline in birthrates might have had more to do with the fact that a man cannot impregnate another man.

The definition of men going their own way in other of those civilizations got to a point where it was guys banging other guys.

They went female vaginas to male anuses.

Becoming c~~~ hounds was ultimately their demise rather than some kind of profound and meaningful walking away from relationships with women.

    Not really.

Ancient greek homosexuality was a consequence of greek hyper-gynocentrism. Women were kept inside until their wedding day to keep them safe and protected and comfortable such that young men growing up and in their 20s likely would never have even seen a woman of their own age or younger. Meanwhile young men were nothing but a military resource for the city state to use up. This resulted in a sort of “prison gay” phenomenon in the male barracks.

And then, after serving their term, men were expected to marry some woman at 30 and produce the next generation of soldiers for the city state, and were fined heavily if they did not.

What Polybius is complaining about is a large percentage of men, having done their military duty, had no desire to be simply a further utility to the state by supporting some wife.

Still can’t create offspring if guys are banging each other.

Still can’t create offspring if guys are banging each other.

But that’s just it. Ancient greek men were expected, yes expected, to be boyf~~~ers until they hit 30, and then take up a wife to support and f~~~ her instead, thereby producing the next generation of boys to be f~~~ed, then become citizen soldiers, then married chumps. Rinse. Repeat.

It was socially disapproved and criminal for greek men, who had been encouraged by society to f~~~ young boys’ assholes their entire lives, to engage in anal sex with their wives, because that would not produce children for the state. That’s how invasive the state was in the lives of those men.

So what actually happened is large numbers of men walked the f~~~ away from the whole literally s~~~ty deal of pederasty then marriage and went instead to prostitutes, whether hetaerae or pornai. That’s why Polibius was also complaining of men pursuing “show and wealth and entertainment” instead of being good little married chumps. There’s a reason why wives and boys weren’t permitted at symposia (drinking parties), but whores were.

tl;dr: Ancient greek men needed vidya in the worst way.
