    Consider this ancient advice.
Gilgamesh was the king of Uruk, and his story was told in the Epic of Gilgamesh, a

Babylonian story which older than the Iliad and the Odyssey, older than the Old Testament,

    possibly 5,000 years old.

Gilgamesh and his best friend, Enkidu, have just killed the forest ogre, Humbaba, and are

    heading back to Uruk:

    “Ishtar came,
    their city’s patroness,
    goddess of love
    and fruitfulness
    and war.
    She brought Gilgamesh
    his royal robes and crown
    and hinted that the gods
    had grieved Humbaba’s loss.

    “‘Why should you be chosen
    as the one they blame,’
    She said in her coyness.
    “I might persuade
    my father Anu to relent
    if you marry me.
That is the way your kingdom
    will know peace.’

“Gilgamesh shook off what were to him
    unwanted dreams:
‘What would I gain by taking you as wife?’

    “‘Love,’ she said,’and peace.’

“‘Just as you loved the lion
and gave him pits to fall in
    and the horse whose back
    you wounded with the whip?’
    He shouted back at her.
    ‘Your love only brings war!
You are and old fat whore,
    that’s all you are,
    who was once beautiful,
    perhaps,
    and could deceive
but who has left in men
    a memory of grief.
    WE OUTGROW OUR NAIVETE
    IN THINKING GODDESSES
    RETURN OUR LOVE

I am tired of your promises…'”

Haha, that’s awesome. It’s always awesome to think that all the great achievements that have been accomplished throughout history were in fact, bachelors. My favorite one being Isaac Newton.
