Truth. I don’t watch TV myself. I can stare for 5 hours at a monitor screen non-stop, but give me half an hour in front of those large plasma TVs and I start getting nauseous. Definitely something to do with the new HD TVs and what they are emitting.

And then the stupid emasculating crap about new age sensitive guys who don’t pick their noses, scratch their b~~~~ or burp loudly in order to attract these wenches. Bulls~~~.

@bstoffers; @MG-Tower; @sofdmc: Got rid of my TV in 2005 when my pet crackhead walked out leaving me with two cats and massive debt. I don’t believe in demonizing any one thing as the sole cause of a problem but in my personal and professional opinions television, and to a lesser extent video games foryouths, causes far more problems than it solves. I firmly believe that it has contributed significantly to the demise of American culture and identity which is traumatic if you’re an American. On a more local scale I know of multiple failed marriages  where the idiot box contributed heavily to the Deblissing of Wedded Bliss.

Yes, I do miss it at times, but all I have to do is visit a friend and watch TV for a hour and my longing quickly evaporates. I do enjoy sports but that’s why God invented sports bars. Unfortunately my favorite one is going to s~~~ as I write this. Close to home, extremely reasonable drink prices and that’s before the generous happy hour(s) kick in, okay food, great crowd, and gorgeous servers behind the bar. Well, scratch the eye candy and the crowd. They (a pizza chain) hired a female manager for front of house and she’s determined not to hire anyone better looking than she is. She’s cute but she’s at least a Tenther (see note below) so that means my double Patron, shaken, not stirred (really!) is being served by Eighthers and Sixthers. No better boner and buzz kill than watching some tattooed bipedal bovine waddling behind the bar slinging drinks.

NOTE:

“Tenther”= 1/10 of a short ton (2000 pounds)=200 pounds.

“Eighther”= 1/8 ton=250 pounds.

“Sixther”= 1/6 ton=333 pounds.

I’ve been TV free for almost a year now, one of the best decisions I ever made. It started with the news then within a month or so spread to everything else. My eyes just opened to the social programming bs that it is. The only exception I made was F1 racing, but I just cant get into this V6 turbo crap. So sadly that’s gone now too.
