Hi there
I believe there are certain places in this world where it is easier and more fun to be a MGTOW compared with other places.
This gave me the idea of a possible new series to which we could all contribute. It would also be a chance to create a list of the worst places in the world to be a MGTOW (I Imagine places like Toronto would be up there, based on some of your posts).
I’m going to attempt to start this new series with a city which I believe is a great place to be a MGTOW, and it’s where I have been living for the past three years – SHANGHAI, China.
Well first of all, I must stress that being a MGTOW in Shanghai would only work for you if you are self-sufficient, and don’t rely on anyone else for your income, which in any case for me is a core element of being able to go your own way in the first place. But it’s possible here. Even if you earn less than the equivalent of a medium sized Western income, then you can get by just fine.
The main employment opportunities available for single Western men here are in English teaching, provided you have the relevant teaching certificates and experience. A decent full-time English teaching position will bring in around 2400 USD per month after tax. This will be enough to rent an apartment on your own. It won’t be a palace, you will not be rich by any means, you will not live a life of luxury, but you’ll be fine. After all, you’re a MGTOW, so you have already eliminated many costs associated with marriage, children, co-habitation, etc. Those of you who can come here on a well-negotiated expat package with your company would be able to enjoy a high standard of living here.
The main issue you will have at the beginning will be securing your visa and work permit. There’s a ton of info on the internet to help you on this point, so make sure you go through it.
Whenever you see those lists of ‘the most expensive cities to live in”, Shanghai often comes in quite high, but these lists are often based on irrelevant criteria. Shanghai is a city where it is possible to live on pennies, and also blow an absolute fortune. It all depends on your lifestyle. Most MGTOWS seem to be sensible and careful with their money, and so would have no problem with their finances here.
Here are a few more things I like about living in Shanghai
– It’s one of the safest cities in the world. I have never once feared for my safety at any point during the three years I have lived here.
– Cheap taxis and public transport. The metro system is superb, although pretty crowded during rush hour
– Gyms are widely available all over the city, and if you do your homework and put your haggling skills to good use you’ll pick up a good membership deal.
– It’s both a highly developed, western style city. You can continue to live as a westerner, indulging in your favorite food and beer, or you can ‘go local’ and experience something totally different – it’s entirely up to you.Contrary to all the negative reports in the Western media, air pollution (in Shanghai at least, I can’t comment for other cities), is not as bad as it is made out. In the past few months, there haven’t really been any polluted days, I go running outside 2-3 times a week, and after a recent check-up, I’m in good health. However, the air quality in winter does deteriorate, so be more careful in the winter months and stick to the gym for your work-outs.
If you are a MGTOW and still enjoy the company of women, then Shanghai is also a great place. Oil massages (with extras) by young cute girls are widely available at good prices, and so too are sauna clubs and freelance pick-up bars, if you’re looking to keep someone overnight. But just stay sensible, and only go to places recommended by others – DO NOT follow any guy off the street offering you a massage, sexy girl, etc. You will be scammed.
As far as relationships are concerned, well just treat them in the same way as you would in the west. The fundamental make-up of women in terms of their hypergamy (or their potential to act on it if it hasn’t yet manifested itself), is the same wherever you go, so don’t think they’ll be any major differences in behavior here. In fact, if you do hook up with a local, she will start thinking about marriage and children almost immediately – it’s the sole purpose of dating as far as most Chinese women are concerned, so make sure you keep that in mind.
I could add many more points about being a MGTOW here in Shanghai, but I’ll leave it here for now. Let me know if any of you would like any more info.
Good day to you all.
Cool. Thanks for the write up man.
Learn from the past, Control the present, and you will know the Future.
Cool, man. I really like the idea of good and bad mgtow cities. For a while, I’ve considered moving to Alaska or some place away from all the bulls~~~, I’d imagine that would be a pretty good place to live.
I’d also like to push parts of Japan, hell the whole country is MGTOW there. As for bad cities? Hell, the west is getting more gynocentric every f~~~ing day.
Feminism is a movement where opinions are presented as facts and emotions are presented as evidence.
considered moving to Alaska or some place away
Thats what I did brother, cities are s~~~holes,if you can find a northern remote location and a way to sustain it,
go for it,you won’t regret!Lifes a bitch,but you don't have to marry one!
AWESOME POST BROTHER!!! Freaking great idea…
I am walking my path in the beautiful Black Hills of Wyoming…It is indeed a very SMALL area though…As far as being left alone to do as you please here though, WOW…There is a very old west way of life here sprinkled with the bulls~~~ of today here and there, but as far being left alone to your own devices, this is a great place to be…And if the s~~~ were to hit the fan any time soon, I am in a fantastic place…Abundance of wildlife right now as I speak there are 10 white tail deer eating in my back yard…Just this morning a herd of elk pushed up the 6500 foot peak just a few miles directly behind my house…Turkey’s litter the area in the morning just after sun up, as a mother bald eagle flies overhead eyes gazed upon the rabbit scurrying through an open grass area headed for the thick tall lodge pole pines for cover…Few people, and even fewer libtards…If it were not for my mother only a mile away, I would say this is heaven for any man going his way…but that is just my two cents gents…Men are at a time when panning for gold in a urinal has a higher probability of success than finding a faithful and loving woman, it is time to go your own way.....
Shame that I am not good at speaking mandarin.
A MGTOW is a man who is not a woman's bitch!
The idea of a series about sharing expats’ lessons-learned is brilliant!
One question for you is about the legal environemnt in China for men.
How big is the risk of false rape accusations creating problems?
How big is the risk of losing an job by not being stealhty?
I mean, kindly and rationally expressing free-speach (not about politics, but about male-female relationships).Hi Feral
Some interesting questions you have raised.
Q) How big is the risk of false rape accusations creating problems?
A) I would say that on this subject, the situation is completely different. My feeling is that you are much less likely to be falsely accused of rape or abuse here, especially if you are living with your girlfriend. The police don’t really get involved in these types of issues and consider them as private, to be resolved by the couple. For example, if a couple are having a domestic and are waking up the neighbors, causing the police to be called, the police would turn up, ask no questions about what caused the incident (even if the woman is crying rape), tell the couple to keep the noise down, and then leave. They don’t see it as their business as to how a relationship is managed between a couple in a private home. The woman chose to be with that guy, so she has to be an adult and take responsibility for that choice – and however harsh that may sound to some, it seems reasonable if you ask me. If something really did happen to her, then she can just leave the guy, start over somewhere else, learn from the last one and choose more carefully next time.
Q) How big is the risk of losing a job by not being stealthy?
I mean, kindly and rationally expressing free-speech (not about politics, but about male-female relationships).A) I doubt the risk of losing your job over this is particularly high here, I suppose it would ultimately depend on who is in charge. If you your boss and most of your co-workers are female then it will probably be best to tread lightly on this issue, as you would anywhere. However, I founded and run a small company here so I would never be affected by this.
