“Career”, a word I semi-hate as it’s tied to the idea of living to work, and submitting to the wrath of this hamster-wheel system that we live in – but MGTOW is a train-of-thought, a lifestyle which provides men of all ages the opportunity to break away and live a peaceful life on your own terms (as I’m sure we are all very aware of). Unfortunately, I had only discovered, immersed myself in and truly embraced going my own way after I had completed most of my own studies – but I’m not worried as I have several fall backs and jobs that have something to do with what I’ve been studying that I’d be searching for come graduation time. I was sitting in a seminar today listening to former students talk about their experiences with internships and being picked up by fancy schmancy firms and all of this crap, and realized how for me, all this s~~~ seems so dry, empty, and boring. I kept thinking about that scene in Fight Club where Tyler Durden talks to the narrator in the bar about our innate hunter-and-gatherer imperative, and how modern society inhibits, suppresses, and even kills of this instinctual drive that we have to truly survive. That’s not to say that all jobs suck, and if there are any members here who have either landed their dream job, or a job that they are more than happy with than I 100% commend you for working towards something that has worked out positively for you – but for any of you who are at the same point in life as me, where you’re either studying or working at something, but still feel unsure – what are you doing about setting up your future? And for those who have already been through this and came out a-okay, how did you go about it? I’m interested in hearing your experiences, feel free to share what jobs you’ve had or are currently in.

Cheers.

I work for the government and 80% of my coworkers are female. I like to think that I’m taking a job away from women.

I make enough money to get by doing work that is enjoyable and contributes negatively to society.

In my free time I write fiction. My goal is to self-publish a bunch of novels on amazon as a source of secondary income.

I agree with Himeo if i’m taking a job away from a woman, or p~~~ing one off then my job is totally worth it. I want to be a nurse just because it’s a female dominated profession, and I want to observe them like freaking zoo animals.

Working from home is a great way to be MGTOW and avoid all the office politics. With the internet opens employers eyes to the possibilities, it becoming a more and more viable career goal.

F~~~ a career, I work a job. A career is for someone that forgot how to dream, and then try and make that dream a reality. I might be 46, but I still know how to dream, and I have the b~~~~ to attempt to make it a reality.

“Here’s to the crazy ones.
The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them,
disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things.
They invent. They imagine.
They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire.
They push the human race forward.
Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?
While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world,
are the ones who do…”

Career !?!

Treat your Co-Workers like s~~~, let them do all the work, wait until they make a mistake, kick them when they are down and don’t forget to kiss your superiors asses.

Career, work, whatever you want to call it:

A “job” is just something you do to make enough money…. so that you can afford to do what you want – when you’re not working.

That’s keeping it in the proper MGTOW perspective.

I do believe, however, that a man needs to have a “purpose”. To create a mission for himself and a reason to get up in the morning. I tried the “working at home” thing, but there is something to be said about having a place to go where others are relying on you, to shave, and get in your car to go and do SOMETHING. But as an “employee”, better to keep it in it’s proper perspective. It’s just a “job” so that you can do what you want when you’re NOT working.

Live to work? Or work to live. Those are your choices, really.

That attitude might free a man up to consider he doesn’t NEED his “job”, and losing becomes hardly a tragedy. With that in mind, you can rid yourself of any fear you might have to keep it – even when you hate it and go to work on days you don’t feel it just to make other people money. What bugs me the most about having a “job” is when the “boss” thinks and behaves like you should be grateful for the opportunity.

That is twisted and sick.

I have changed lines of work DRASTICALLY. At least 3 completely opposite “careers” and lives. You would never guess what I used to do for a living – or believe it probably – but the reason I ended up here and do what I do now, is because I did as much as possible. I tried to do EVERYTHING and create as many opportunities as possible and believe that to be the key. Today the idea of doing the same thing for 35 years like my father did is virturally unheard of.

About +10 years ago, I had some “students” and gave one of them that advice. This year at christmas I heard from him for the first time in over a decade and he thanked me for that advice. It was the best Christmas present I got in a long time.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.

I never worked a day in my life in close proximity to women, I hear it’s murder. I’m independent of corporations, I worked for a industrial machine shop and hated it, another job was industrial sheet steel (diamond plate) manufacturing, the owner let me do whatever I wanted, so long as the contracts were filled, I loved it, had my own body shop, I hated it! over regulation linked with gestapo inspections, and insurance regulations sent me running! I worked all phases of construction, stone, brick, block, restoration, new construction, and worked for a building moving company, owner was an asshole! But that’s OK, I used that skill several times over. Working on starting a fertilizer company, raising capital, start up for this expensive. but I’ll try it!

So things work in Germany just like the States. The s~~~ always floats to the top. I threw away a growing small side business to fully dedicate myself to my corporate master back in 2002. Well, I later got repaid for my loyalty by getting kicked rudely the curb when my employer got bought out 9 years later. Hey, they got to make an extra million dollars on the sale from firing me though as I was not on the books in the final sales price so I guess that makes it all OK. Well, here’s a big F~~~ YOU to all you mega-corps who grind up and destroy people. This slave has left the plantation.

I’ve been rebuilding myself as fully self-employed for the past three years. I’d rather work 60 hour weeks for 2/3s the pay than renter a pit of corporate snakes. I often think of how throwing away that book of business 13 years ago is still hurting me to this day.

@Smitty: Great quote as short term focused modern management is all about obedient little robots who live in fear. I’ve watched it continue to get worse over the years too. The problem is that it’s the innovators that provide for the longer term success, and innovators need freedom and are the crazy ones.

@Key: I do have to shave as my clients are high end operations.

@MG-Tower: The worst thing about working with women is having one as a boss. The 80/20 rule applies here. 20% are OK the other 80% are power mad freaks. The odds are better having a man boss, but you still get assholes.

Was also recruited by a big corp and refuse to work for that infernal machine. Just their method of interviewing and the stupid HR departments are enough to make we want to vomit. Find another servile worm. I have actually ended interviews based on their line of questioning alone. “Well thanks very much for your time, but I have determined this not the kind of company I wish to work for”. The shock on their faces is priceless – especially if you lather on the politeness.

Companies today behave like you should be “privileged” to work for them.
They think only THEY can interview YOU… and not the other way around.

They are almost exactly like women that way. “The relationship” is only permitted to go the way SHE wants, and what you want is not even a basic consideration. For a man to say “no thanks, not interested” is a totally foreign concept to them.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.

Damn straight. They treat their employees like retarded children too. I’ve been reading of some actually paying data mining companies to keep tabs on their employees online activities and purchases.

How about having a corporate controlled camera and mike in your house 24/7? It’s only a matter of time before they start doing it. They are just like women as they keep pushing the boundaries until you just put your foot down and walk.

I remember a time when it used to not be this way.

Engineering used to be a MGTOW profession in which logic and rationality were considered important. It hasn’t been that way, particularly in the last 20 years. I wonder why….

One advantage to being on my own and semi-retired: I don’t have to work with anybody who can’t think clearly or has “issues”, if you get my drift.

I work in “critical infrastructure services”. It’s a “man’s job” by default. It’s virtually devoid of wimmenz because my line of work requires knowledge in chemistry, mathematics, environmental law, and mechanical/electrical/engineering. The working conditions can be rather unpleasant, dangerous, and physically demanding. Business is 24x7x365, no exceptions. That means no special accommodations for PMS, bleeding vaginas, sick children, preggo b.s., etc. In other words, it’s an occupation that society counts on and a functioning society has no time to wait for cupcake to change her tampon. Can someone explain that whole “a woman can do anything a man can do” thing for me again? I don`t see them lining up for my kind of job? I must be missing something?

Yeah Soul Man, if the job involves breaking a sweat then its pretty safe from the wimmenz. They want equal opportunities but only the ‘right’ type of opportunities.

Very true…add to that the fact that one generally cannot just f~~~ up on the job without very serious and tangible consequences. This means half-assed work just won’t cut it. You gotta be on top of your s~~~ in this game or people get hurt and/or killed. I realized a long time ago who & what is TRULY necessary to keep society functioning and it’s NOT wimmenz. So all this “gurl power” is just nothing more than a pussy cult…and we know where cults ultimately take society.

Ha! Well currently water treatment only thank God! I have worked in municipal waste water treatment as well for several years. I have done s~~~ for a living that would make a billy goat puke. It’s all necessary to keep civilized society rolling though. I LOL’d when you posted those pics of sanitation workers the other day. Boy did it bring back memories! I have cleaned many wet wells on municipal collection systems. Full Tyvec suits, respirators, etc…talk about a disgusting job that I have NEVER seen a woman do! Used tampons, used maxi pads, used condoms, rats, salamanders, beach whistles, giant grease cakes, hair & dental floss all tangled in the pump floats…the smell that permeates the Tyvec and gets in your nose and clothes. Good times!

The funny thing is this line of work pays pretty nicely and one can make a lot of money in the right position. Unfortunately for wimmenz, there’s really no cutting to the head of the line to be boss in this biz. You’re gonna pay your dues first!

Sometimes people are born with a talent for certain things. In the hospital those cute little spinner nurses are good for something else. Those dainty little hands are the best thing to remove fecal impaction!

Medicine is such a glamorous job.

I work as a tool and die maker/machinist, to me it is the ultimate MGTOW, if the boss gets to bitchy I tell them to get bent; and I walk down the road the the next shop because my skills are in high demand. With a low labor pool to choose from I am hard to replace, (especially since it takes years to become skilled enough to earn a company money), the only women I come across are in the office behind a desk with the label of secretary, if there is a disagreement between co- workers we yell, punch and tell each other to f~~~ off then go to the bar after work and chill, plus it is more gratifying to actually make that part that is drawn on the piece of paper than it is to just draw on paper.
