There is saying that is attributed to the mythical magician Merlin that goes like this:
“The greatest sin of men is to forget.”

In my life I have experienced this phenomenon many times, starting with the very same people that showed me this sentence. What happens is not that we forget one thing that happened, like the meal I had yesterday. What happens is that we voluntarily put it out of our conscience.

This censorship derives of our unwillingness to deal with the implications of a fact. It is the BLUE PILL.

This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill — the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill — you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

The blue pill protects the world view that we where raised to believe, not the world as it really is. If anything threatens this world we take the blue pill, “the story ends”. You forget that moment. You forget that though.

Its like those old 3D glasses, with color filters. If you look through these filters, you can only see the color of the filter, everything else is black.

But if you take the red pill, it mean you can no longer forget. You get to see something new and different from what you believed before. It is a new world view right there, a “Wonderland”.

What leads one to abandon the blue pill and take the red pill?

    PAIN.

Let us cherish our pain. It got us where we are.

Ignorance is the cause of suffering. It’s true.

Edit: Adding some bumper sticker wisdom.

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.

Well said ZenState. Just wading into this area of the forums and loving it. I definitely liken the red pill to a kind of Satori/nirvana/enlightenment/awakening. It’s quite remarkable to notice so many things for so long yet not see the totality for what it is. And once you do see it, you can’t unsee it.

Let go or be dragged -Zen proverb
