Men seek novelty, but women seek mainstream?

Have you ever noticed how men usually value novelty more than they value mainstream, while women are the opposite? Or is this just my imagination?

My thinking is that it’s because mainstream means predictable, which means easier to control.

Is this why women don’t usually go for anything novel? Control issues and comfort thing?

Females are herd creatures with their own internal structures, collectively known as the female hivemind, to keep each other in check. This likely occurred from evolutionary psychology as females were the chokepoint for reproduction and therefore were averse to risk-taking.
