Interesting. I don’t see this happening with anyone that I know. I never dated up either. I have always had more money than any woman I ever dated. They always wanted a piece of it. They got plenty of free gifts, dinners, etc. but that’s about it. I never married nor do I plan to with the way things are. I don’t ever plan on dating either. This data just seems cherry picked.

It used to be that women were the ones who “married up”—snagging men who were more highly educated and professionally successful than they were, allowing them to step into a higher economic class. But now that women are outpacing men in college enrollment and driving growth in the labor force, there’s been a seesaw effect: According to a new study in the journal Demography, the tables have turned—men are now the ones who are more likely to “marry up.” (Kate Middleton’s entrée into the royal family notwithstanding.)

Researchers at the University of Kansas studied Census data between 1990 and 2011 and found that “women’s personal earnings have grown faster than men’s earnings during this time,” due to women increasing their education, and with it, their employment opportunities. As a result, the number of highly educated women actually “exceeds the number of highly educated men in the marriage market,” the researchers found, meaning that women are now more likely than before to marry men less educated than they are. This shift is notably upending stodgy, traditional ideas about marriage and family—namely, that instead of always seeing men as the breadwinners and the ones who wear the proverbial pants, women are contributing more to family income and becoming the so-called “catches.”

“Marriage is now becoming more egalitarian and becoming equal,” said lead study author ChangHwan Kim, an associate professor of sociology at the University of Kansas. “If you look at gender dynamics or from a marriage-equality standpoint, that is a really good sign.”

Case in point, researchers noted that you don’t often hear men complaining about the paradigm shift—because it benefits them so handsomely. “It seems fine for men because their wife is now bringing more income to the household,” Kim said. “Men are getting the benefit from women’s progress.” More proof that when women get ahead, everybody wins.

I work with a Divorced Man that’s nearing retirement age, and got re-married to an Old HOE within the past few years. Without him going into detail, a BIG part of his decision seemed to be that she has a BIG pension coming as well as Many More assets then he does.

Apparently nobody told those wonks at Vogue that doctorate in “gender studies” is not “highly educated”.

What we’re seeing here is not women marrying down (even though they might think that). What we’re seeing is women with worthless liberal arts degrees and mountains of student loan debt marrying up to men who maybe only got a bachelor’s degree but then went on to do something with it.

ChangHwan Kim doesn’t even know what equality means.

But that’s because a bachelor’s degree in STEM beats a doctorate plus hours in sociology hands down every time.

All this really means is a bunch of “highly educated” women will claim to have “given up” their “highly educated” careers to get married and have children (and sit their lazy asses on the couch all day) so they can demand even more alimony from their productive “starter husbands”.

It’s not that men are “marrying up” so much that women are “marrying down”. And even then it’s not accurate… women saddled with massive student loan debt for their useless degrees are desperately trying to latch onto gainfully employed men to bail them out!

A woman will always latch onto resources where ever she finds them. She prefers to spend a man’s money rather than spend her own.
Any money she earns is usually considered “her” money. Any money that he earns is usually considered “our” money.

I personally haven’t seen many women who financially support men for any length of time.

DING DING DING! We have a winner.

When they say “marrying up,” they inevitably mean marrying someone with a higher degree. As if that’s some great accomplishment. (Hell, as if getting a degree is a an accomplishment. There are people with PhDs who don’t know how conception works.)

What this really means is that more women are getting degrees, which everyone already knows. College is CANCER for men.

Oh, and no number of degrees is ever going to make women a “catch.” The best men are looking for women who are young and attractive. They couldn’t give a rat’s ass for how many degrees she has. Biology dictates that men look for women who will provide them with healthy offspring. Ain’t no degree in the world which affects that.

I laugh at any study claiming men benefit from women being highly educated, or having high paying jobs. I’ve never seen a female offer financial support to a man, no matter how wealthy she is.

The dumbest part of it all is that even after women beg, they can still turn around, and will turn around, and scream rape/harassment/abuse when it fits their purposes.

And I agree with others that it’s not like a woman will support her husband anyway.

I know plenty of women that make a lot more money than their husbands. Typically in the 2-3x range, despite working a third of the hours and being really unintelligent. In any major city, it’s rigged for women under 40. Has been for awhile, most women over that age that had any brains also make bigger salaries.

Despite that, it’s the man that pays the mortgage and all the bills and for everything else. When there is a divorce, since the man has been paying all the bills, he has to pay support to the woman, despite her much higher income. Women spend all of that on themselves. It’s an absolute joke.

Unless you are marrying a billionaire, and she is giving you a trust and signing over property under your name, do not expect to gain anything financially with marriage to women. For lesser earning men it’s actually even on top of the fact they pay all the bills a bigger hit because of marriage penalty taxation. He’s going to get slammed even harder on his income. Especially if she’s also taking head of household, which she probably is with the higher income.

A man is better off living in poverty with a young, beautiful woman that genuinely adores him than touching any of these worthless women with their education, money and age, and all their rampant entitlement on top of inferior physical looks. Of course, the former is a unicorn too, so once again we always end up back to square one: don’t get married.
