Percentage of male students in colleges have dropped. Unemployment among men has risen. they say men are obsolete. But how true is that?

We are reaching post scarcity society. Productivity, digitalization, automation etc. are leading us into a society where goods and information are becoming so surpluss that tehy dont cost anything. Even if you have a low paying job you can still buy more goods than a rich person a few decades ago. Soon we could have robot cars driving us with zero cost. Music is already post scarcity, everything is free.

One definition of being poor is that a poor person is a person who cannot take part in a life style that is commonly appreciated. Poor people are not poor because they lack stuff but because they feel that their life style is inferior to what is commonly admired. Maybe we are seeing a shift in which the commonly admired life style is not gaining wealth and goods that are already surpluss. In post scarcity society your social status does not depend on your wealth because everything is surpluss. Social status is depended on non-material things:your looks, your social media followers, your social life etc.But if you work hard and use your free time studying hard you might get lower social status because time is still scarce and instead of trying to improve your social status you use your time studying. You dont get instagram followers reading maths.

Maybe men are not obsolete. Maybe they just live in the post scarcity society in which workin hard might ruin your life. In post scarcity society:
-How do you impress a girl with a sports car if robot cars are free?
-you get lower social status by being a guy who works long hours doing “traditional work”
-Your free time is your work in which you try to gain social status. Work is a side business.
-Social competition between men is held on your free time, not comparing your income and work status.

There is also that even high paying jobs can be automated or send overseas. When the big number of people are unemployed they are going to conficate your wealth away. So your job is going to robots,overseas or your money is being confiscated away(like women are doing with their “pay gap propaganda”).MAybe you cant win by working hard. Why work hard if you cant win? Your social status can not be send overseas or robots or be confiscated away. Maybe working or studying hard has became a waste of resources.

I am not aware of any point in human history where personal freedom and accountability were abundant. And, I doubt those two ‘goods’ will ever be abundant.

I also doubt that many members here actually care about their social status.

Sidecar, I beg to differ, each one of us is adding a little scarcity both directly and indirectly as our multitudes continue to walk away. We’re the atomic bomb their decadence and overindulgence has been begging for.

I’m not agreeing with either of your two major premises, that being that men are obsolete or that we live in a post scarcity society.

The skills that men are able to provide will never be obsolete. There are just way to many things men do so much better then women, like manual labor, creativity, and even management. Women may claim that men are obsolete only because they can go about their day without asking men for help directly because society is structure to allow them to keep men behind the scenes.

As for post scarcity, I see your point that the basics are pretty well covered. However, human nature is to always want a little bit more. I don’t see that ever really changing. Sure, there will a certain part of population that is happy with what they have and have no interest in a little more, that % may be relatively high right now, but the vast majority still want more.

Women need to live according to traditional femininity in order to be good mothers. Women tend to drift into manly behavior unless men encourage feminine behavior.

It strikes right at something I’ve had a feeling about for quite some time but haven’t managed to put words on. I think “it” is that the honest hardworking man that used to be admired and be the basis of society is a dead figure. Being a good, hardworking and honest man just doesn’t pay off even the slightest so it is time to reorient the direction of our lives.

And if someone complains, if the honest hardworking man is the norm that society wants socialize men into, make it pay or f*** off!

Surplus– there are still things that are surplus.Consumer goods have become easily accessible, that doesnt mean things are surplus.
Land,power,big wealth,bigger consumer items like planes,sports cars,yachts etc are not surplus.

Education and job– Status and importance of a job is based on what you are paid and not how it is important for the society. So things like hard work, education are a waste if you dont make big money out of it.

Men is a general term. Who is becoming obsolete is men who are earning low compared to the basic standard of the particular area.

But are they satisfied with having all their material needs met, gratis? Of course not. As far as they are concerned, they always “need” more, because they aren’t the ones who have to earn it. To their thinking no matter how much they get they will never live “post scarcity”.

However, this post-scarcity world which women have voted for themselves is unsustainable. While they complain about all the free s~~~ they get, as you say, men get fed up with sacrificing themselves for this eternal feminine dissatisfaction and walk the f~~~ away. There’s a point where we will have fed too much of our seed corn to women, especially single mothers, to provide them this potemkin post-scarcity society to enjoy. When that happens we will be unable to sow for our future needs, and it will all collapse down. Then women will face real scarcity again. Maybe they will learn from it. Probably not.

But that is not our problem.

When the day comes that women or robots will go into the sewers, build buildings, and fight in wars without men is the day men will become obsolete. I don’t see any of that happening in our lifetime and social media by far is just a manufactured status symbol that will never be able to replace economic status. The downside to this manufactured status symbol is more men are being brain washed into doing less work changing their mindset to entitled privileged class who should be working less for more. While the hard working old timer is busting his hump trying to make his money they are being let go for less productive younger work force because companies can pay them less.

One industry that is the opposite is the trucking industry. Young workers are refusing to drive trucks because of the long hours and low pay where before truck drivers were paid well for what they did. You get what you pay for so they keep the old workers on and pay them less but when a new truck driver wants work they only will hire experienced older people. That is why Mercedes and other companies are looking to automate the trucking industry to the point where you may soon see trucks being self driven and a entire industry no longer needing men. It can happen it will be a very slow process.

I agree sir. This is the kind of guy I was raised to be. In the end what do I have to show for it? I’m doing alright financially, I have a drama free lifestyle with basically no baggage, and now society expects me to wife up some chick that has spent the last 10-15 years riding the c~~~ carousel after she has created a ton of baggage for herself, and in most cases is a financial wreck with a ton of debt?

While they were busy telling me to be a hard working, honest guy through one side of their mouth they were telling women “You go girl!” when she was out whoring around f~~~ing every Chad and bad boy that would toss her some dick. At one point in time when I was working hard to move my life in a positive direction I’d have love to meet a girl who was doing the same with her life…but it seems like most of them just expected because guys like me were interested in them at 22 we’d still be there when they turned 32…and they are now finding out the hard way we aren’t.

Its not even that I think hardworking, honest men are obsolete…its just the only reward we have to look forward to for our efforts is marrying a post wall carousel rider and opening ourselves up to a divorce rape…why should I? If society wanted me to be an honest, hardworking man and fulfill the traditional male role that very same society should have been holding women to a more traditional standard as well, and it hasn’t, so society can f~~~ off. I’m not going to “man up” and clean up someone’s mess they made of their life when the best possible outcome leads to me being less happy than I am single but not divorced, and the most likely, and also worst outcome is I end up divorce raped and miserable. I lived my life enough at this point to know a choice that ends in me losing a little or losing a lot is a choice I’d rather just just take the available bypass option on.
