In the described scenario, yes, Tim could have beaten the s~~~ out of both of them perhaps in Texas as a crime of passion.
However ignorant bravado looks and sounds, it’s all fun and games ’til courtroom day.
Courtroom day – is worth thinking about,
vs. “Here lies b~~~~ to brains RATIO John Smith”. He spent the last XX years of his life getting ass f~~~ed / sodomized / the banging death in prison. However, he didn’t take s~~~ from anyone. His surviving next of “brain thought” can be found on street corners, begging for money.
You can have huge b~~~~, b~~~~ of a bull elephant, but if you CONTROL yourself and your life with a huge brain, a brain like Einstein, you won’t ruin your life.

Also, in Proverbs 26-4 we are told that if we answer a fool according to his folly, we will be like him, a fool.
But if we don’t answer a fool in his folly, he will think of himself wise in his own eyes.
Ergo, when you are being taunted etc., you don’t want to react and respond – that pulls You down. Say nothing, let the ass think he’s wise.

Of course, if I hear nothing back on this post, I’ll then have to conclude that perhaps I’m the fool, and would do well in investigating the advantages of being circumspect.
