Didn’t see one here, so I decided to make one. Including Western boxing and wrestling, share your experiences training and sparring with dudes! We evolved to be warriors since we were apes and the modern world has enabled us to live obese and inactive lifestyles. Fitness is important!

I have not been able to find my own group through Meetup, so since college I have definitely dropped out of the scene. (Paying for a gym membership can be rather expensive) If you live in NorCal or in the Bay Area I’d definitely be up to host some possible irl meetups. I am still relatively in shape and train here and there though…

But I mainly trained in the lesser-known BajiQuan (Eight Extremities Fist), which features elbow strikes and other close-range combat techniques. We also did some wrestling and takedowns (from catch-kicks to MMA tackles) in addition to the stance training. It’s definitely interesting technique-wise given that I often had the sheer weight and size advantage. A modern master you can find on Youtube is AnJianQiu from China, who shows some applications as well.

I studied Kenpo for about 20 years from a gym called TRACO under Thomas Conners. He passed in 89 and I continued under his other instructores. I loved it. This art won’t work in the ring. It’s total focus is get out alive. I hear bad jokes and ridicule from people who don’t practice or understand it, but I really enjoyed it.

If you rescue a damsel in distress, all you will get is a distressed damsel.
