I retired from my engineering job nine years ago and started doing all of the things I had always wanted to do but couldn’t because of all my family comittments. I am one of the fortunate few who is free to do my own thing.
Unfortunately, most of my married buddies are not enjoying their retirements and pursuing their dreams.
You see, they acquired a new boss as soon as they retired from their paying jobs.
You guessed it, they now work full time for their wives, but get no pay, no reward whatsoever. All they get is an endless list of jobs and obligations that they have no choice but to comply with if they want to keep their houses and retirement funds.
Their slave driving wives let them off the leash occasionaly to play a round of golf or a round of poker, but the men have to keep their cellulars nearby at all times in case their new boss wants to talk to them.
In fact, many of them actually acquire a second retirement boss, their mother in law. Turns out, the wife can bring her mother into the husband’s home anytime she wants, and demand that the husband help take care of her.
Usually these old hags are invalids and need constant care. Basically, they are ugly old children who contribute nothing but take over the man’s home. They care nothing for the man’s rights and don’t even respect him. He is just their disposable tool.
So what it boils down to is that the men don’t actually own their homes, which they paid for with many years of hard work. The witch wife can divorce him at any time if he doesn’t submit to her demands and he is forced to leave his home.
In summary, a married man will never legally own his own home and will never really retire because he must slave away for his witch wife and worthless mother in law.
So pass the word along guys. This is the fate that awaits you if you marry a western women. You will never be free.

This explains a lot.

I have worked with a lot of guys who are able to retire or work part time but don’t. These are men who actually own a house, have money in the bank and the kids are gone but they keep working. I ask why and the most common answer I get ( particularly from the Asian men) is “Oh if was at home the Mrs would drive me nuts”
This is after I ask them why they are not out playing golf, fishing or f~~~ing hookers like I will be doing when I retire. It really is as though they are not allowed to have a life other than work.

If it really is a bout just earning money while you still can then fine, but in the end they just work until they die then the ungrateful kids inherit the lot anyway.

If the wife is a nagging annoying bitch then either leave her or spend as much time apart as you can while GYOW.

Very true, give up dreams of retirement.

I can show you rulings where the Court has forced men to pay alimony to their useless, stay-at-home ex-wives until age 65, after which an application to reduce/eliminate will be “reviewed”. Good luck with that.

Alimony based on your highest earning years, of course.

By this time you have already been cleaned out of your assets (home, savings).

So, if you are lucky enough to still have it, you can live out your golden years in your truck.

Common-law marriage is going this way too.

LoL…I do have a bro that is retired and is married and, luckily for him, he laid down the law with the “HoneyDo” list s~~~….Told her to make the list and put it on the fridge. Said he would get s~~~ done when and if he felt like it, and if she bitched about it he would tear the list up and go back to watching football. She was actually cool with that, but then she does have a lot of “unicorn” traits. Lucky man….for now. #MANOUT!

Even if a man lays out his expectations for his space at the start of the relationship, she can always deny that the discussion happened, say that she changed her mind (playing the victim card by implying that he was insensitive to that change), or that she felt pressured to concede. Yes Wraith, This is one of the fundamental reasons marriages don’t work for men. The wife can change the ‘Rules’ anytime she wants, forget about previous promises and agreements, and the husband either surrenders to her new demands or gets stripped of everything by the divorce courts.
The only wise move is to forget about marriage and build a great life for ourselves.
