I may actually be the bitch though, because Im only running the HALF marathon (13 miles). The REAL marathoners are running all the way around White Rock “Lake” too (26 miles). Hats off to that. Ill be lucky to make 13 miles with a finish time of 2 hours and 15 minutes (apprx 9:45 min/miles) … this is due to a rough November and December full of sickness and injury. Had trouble with my Achilles heel for awhile. Then I got The Crud (yellow goo in lungs for weeks). And after I sprained my back last week and missed a few runs, then I finally did run, only to hurt my Hamstring pretty bad. LOL. But I think I healed enough to get this done! WISH ME LUCK. My best HM was on a track where I did it in 2 hours flat. 2:00:03 or something.

To all the other runners. BE WELL GUYS. Rock n roll. And to the Gym Rats, boat rowers, walkers and cyclists, Merry Xmas!

Here is the MAP. Its the same as last year except for the Ultra Marathon course.

See ? That’s your penalty for being a bitch: you don’t get to run around the beautiful lake. LOL

    Just teasing you, brother.

I admire your determination. Kick some ass, man !

    Thanks guys.

Yeah, at the onset of the race, it can be crazy with so many people bunched up, like youre in some zombie movie all running for your lives tripping over eachother.

The Turkey Trot was insane for the first 2 Miles.

But I think this one will be okay, because the lowest distance is 13 miles. I just make sure all them fastie people are in front of me so I dont get my fat ass run over when it all starts. LOL.

You kind of size people up, okay, all the healthy looking lightweight people to the front please. You candy ass people with a belly like Hermit go to the back. LOL

I ran in an emotional marathon once:

It was over a year and a half.

When Princess Pumpkin merged with ‘the only man I have ever loved’

And she locked on with parasitical and narcissistic precision.

It was a brutal, almost life draining experience.

Right up to the last mile. . .

When I was on the verge of collapsing. I reached for my water bottle, wondering why I felt so dehydrated. I had been drinking it when necessary.

Then I realized, it was tainted with lies, manipulation, gaslighting and psychological games.

I allowed myself to cease going on and collapsed before reaching the finish line.

When I had the strength to lift my head up, I looked ahead and Princess Pumpkin was still running. She turned around, with a sinister, almost sociopathic smile on her face then vanished.

    Very impressive and motivational Gravel!

Think you would be doing that if you were in a relationship? Hell-to-the-no. Enjoy it.

The thing you failed to realize at the time, Sky-O, is that she never entered the race. You were alone in this.

    Well, How did it go!??

Sorry about the injuries and the Crud. I can relate – I’m training for a race and the Doc sent me home with antibiotics, an inhaler and steroids on Friday. So, I’m missed my long run today (3:30min -its time based). Time to play catch up.

Have you ever been dry needled? I swear it works. I was desperate and thought it was BS, but it fixed my ITB. Highly recommend it.

Mend well and let us know how it went!

I want to do a half marathon by my birthday and a full marathon by the end of 2020. I’ve got some rewards set up like new running clothes for completing a half marathon and new fitness tracker if I complete a full marathon. Good luck!

missed my long run today (3:30min -its time based).

Does this mean you do a 3.5 HOUR run sometimes? I guess, depending on your pace, that could mean youre running 25 miles or 12 miles…

The longest distance I have run (being active for a lil over a year now) is 17 miles. That was a one-off event. I have run several Half Marathons on my own though, at 13.1 miles. Like most people, I fancy the shorter runs, 6 miles is nice. LOL.

My time was 2:00 HOURS FLAT for a Half Marathon. Depending on the chip time, versus my Strava/Endomondo Apps … they say different times but unofficially I beat 2 hours which is great for a guy weighing 205lbs. According to the data, Im in the better half of my age group/gender.

Whats ITB? Iliotibial band syndrome :tissue (ligament) extending from the pelvic bone to the shinbone becomes so tight that it rubs against the thighbone. Distance runners are especially susceptible to it.

There seems to be MANY of these long scientific names that describe how runners get jacked up. plantar fasciitis, hamstring tendonitis, achellis something…etc… ITS A ROUGH PASSTIME FOR SURE so I get why people avoid running and pick up gym or cycling instead. chaff~~e is a serious issue too

WELL. I WILL CONTINUE RUNNING. Thanks for the support. I will let you know if I ever run a real 26.2 Marathon. Mad respect to the folks who pull that off.

Fukk you, “go to the back”….. I wouldn’t even be showing up at all, I’m in such poor shape. My marathons start with a push mower and end with a riding mower. Then I’m done for the day.

I can’t even get up early enough for a marathon. Do I feel like getting up? No. Putting on running clothes? No. Eat breakfast early, leave the house and drive down to the race, no and no.

So I don’t think I would do well in the race. Far too lazy.

Congrats, it’ll do wonders for your health.

I actually hated running. I used to think the Marine Corp PFT (personal fitness test) 3 mile run was a nightmare.

I only started running, because it was too cold to ride my bicycle one day. (because of velocity windchill, riding a bike can be punishing even when its 45 degrees outside). So my friend who is a mild jogger suggested I take a jog instead.

He only runs like 6 or 8 miles a week. Now he gives me sh!t because I have superseded his ability in leaps/bounds. I beat all his times and am moving on towards running a Full Marathon. LOL

Running isnt bad at all once your lungs and legs have adapted. Its like set it and forget it. You just put it in drive and go.
Its the little particulars that you have to watch out for like INJURY whether its simple nipple chaffige or serious issues with your tendons and muscles like achilles and hamstring…

Its easy to forget that you need to let the body rest before going at it again, like driving a car past its oil change mileage. I did a simple 3 mile run last week where I tried to hotdog it too much, trying to run real fast … I hurt myself and barely healed enough to run the race day I had been preparing months for… Im pretty reckless.

Way to get under 2hrs – you will find that over time you will whittle yourself down and get leaner. My training plan (not to bore you to death) is based on running long and slow UNDER your lactic threshold and adding tough days of speed repeats. So long runs are at a pace that you aren’t too breathless to hold a conversation. Doing this repeatedly is a slow process but trains your heart to be more efficient and your pace will creep up while your heart rate will actually slow down. Its pretty amazing. Takes patience. I know people that brag about how fast they train – one guy who happens to be a HUGE CUCK.. I mean Ive posted about him (I digress) he always brags, “Man – I did 22 miles at an 8:35 pace”. Well I’m doing 3-4 hour runs at a more relaxed 9:15-9:30 pace and we ran the same race and I smoked him by almost 20 minutes.

ITB yes- runs down the side of your leg and mine acts up – but nothing like it used to.

Stick with running and I highly suggest trails – much more enjoyable and easier on the body. I don’t profess to know everything, but the guy who wrote my plan explains it well. I’ve learned a lot from him. If I can help lemme know.

Look for some trails near your house!

    I still hate running.
Mind you I DO appreciate the benefits that one experiences when one can run.
I haven’t been able to run/jog/walk long distances in a long while due to accumulative injuries, but that is another story.

Good luck with your forays into fitness though, it is better to be fit and strong in pain, than to be slovenly and weak in pain.

There was a time in my life when I gave a fuck. Now you have to pay ME for it
