The taxes on this will be more or less half the winning amount if he takes lump sum. For easy math its 50%. So they have 7.5 million each.

I would have my lawyer make sure she could not come back for more if she blows her half. An even split doesnt require he give her more if she blows through her momey.

Believe me, if you had kids together the ex will be in your life to some degree, at least until they are grown and gone, and long after the divorce if they find out you’ve received an inheritance or other windfall they will be trying to find a way to benefit.

True – here in the UK, there’s been a rash of high profile claims like this in the last few months. One related to a divorce 30 years previously.

That’s not news here’s the Canadian news … even worse. A divorce FINALIZED AND SIGNED…same story he wins LATER long after divorce.
She cries to a judge and gets half AFTER the signed paperwork (years after) …Moral of the story, in Canada, you are never safe unless you’re dead and then she takes it all…can’t even give it to your kids!! ‘Nuff said!
