If you reevaluate your life you will have heard something similar to this throughout it. The phrase is simple yet it holds true. Throughout history who has made innovations? Done something stupid which paid off? Men.

Life gets tough but its important to take a moment and realize its time to man up. There is no reason to say you cant do it. Try again.

Yeah, the phrase “man up” is NEVER used in a positive sense in today’s society. It’s always a condescending, shaming type of invocation where it is implied that you’re NOT a man unless you do whatever it is the WOMAN is telling you to do. (and yes, it is nearly always a woman’s phrase to use against men).

Yes, men rise to meet challenges. We tackle problems. We address issues. We get stuff done. But these don’t have the negative connotations that “man up” always seems to have.

This phrase should only be used by adolescent young Men to dare each other in excessively ridiculous adventure.

The only other situation this phrase is allowed is when the prior phrase is followed with, “hold my beer and watch this”.

Women cannot express this phrase in any shape, form, or fashion.

It is beyond them to comprehend what a “Man” is.

You should “man up” everyday for yourself, and everything else will follow. This happens with or witout a female involved.

I have done enough “manning up” by societies standards IMHO, and coincidentally all the men I know have opined that I over did it much to my own detriment.

It’s transparent here. It’s only “two words” to you, but it can be deconstructed in a dozen paragraphs what it really means.

To “man UP” is ALWAYS about expecting a man to LOWER himself to be a workhorse, a tool for someone else’s use, comfort and convenience…. only to be discarded when they are finished with him. The word “UP” is very misleading, because they really expect him to lay himself DOWN.

• “MAN UP and do your duty for ME”.
• “MAN UP and lay down your life and die for some other good – just not your own“.
• “MAN UP and kneel down while holding up a ring”.
• “MAN UP and fight for ME”.

The command to “MAN UP” is actually a very obvious command to LOWER himself.
