    Zombie spousal support

Apparently in Canada you have to put a special clause in your separation agreement to prevent you paying alimony to a wife who dies. Really? Alberta family law Justice Doug Mah decided a couple’s non-reviewable agreement was unambiguous: nothing in it suggested that the wife’s death ended the husband’s continuing obligation to pay another 4 years of support under the agreement. Even funnier, the husband had to pay life insurance so that in the event of his death payments will still be made. So the way I see it is if he dies, his insurance company will pay his ex wife’s estate spousal support to “keep her in the lifestyle to which she had become accustomed”. I am so glad I never had to set foot in a family courtroom.

    In that particular case.
The judge punitively punished the ex husband for the language used to protect himself from her demanding changes in the future.
She died within 2 years of the divorce, so the judged used the “non re-visitation” clause against him. He doesn’t have to continue to pay more or for longer, he just has to pay the full 5 years even though she’s dead.
The lawyers and system still get paid.

How the F*** can a judge justify SUPPORT for a dead person??
Get your lawyer to tell the judge to back off the Ganja express ! (When he stops laughing)

(correction) Sry I didn’t see Grumpy’s post as I typed this. Perhaps he is more in the know about it. FIGURES it is LEGALEEZE that made the poor guy pay her (estate).

Marry again, Hell NO ! ( Even JESUS was hung on a cross just once)

The point is she is dead and he should not be paying a cent more than he already has.

What good does that do? She’s dead; it’s not like she has a use for it anymore.

The point is/was to punish the ex husband and score points with women, while ensuring the legal system gets paid their “pound of flesh”.
The non-revisitation clause was interpreted verbatim in black and white.
Hence, his revisiting the order due to her dying was rejected due to his instance of the non-revisitation clause in the order. (which he signed off on).
Just a case of someone being too smart for their own good, and neglecting an “in case of death” clause.

Canada really is retarded. Just avoid the expense/risk altogether, by avoiding contact with women. When the beneficiary of spousal support dies, any out-standing spousal support to that deceased beneficiary should be just written-off/set-aside; surely that is just basic common-sense. How more insane is the legal system going to get? I am so glad that I am a MGTOW Monk. I dodged a massive bullet, with all of this modern gyno-centric s~~~.

    Canada really is retarded.

As goes the USA & Great Britain, Canada follows.

It’s just that sometimes Canadian politicians and lawmakers beat the rest of the world out in the retard race.

Why would one continue to pay alimony to a dead corpse? Not like they can spend it.

I’ve seen it happen. One of my doc friends had to pay alimony that continued for 5 years after he died. He had to purchase an annuity.

Paying alimony to a dead wife is completely nuts. Just another scheme to rob men.

I swear women are getting crazier by the day. Their greed and avarice know no limits.

I just haven’t heard of such a legal precedent being set in a UK Court, hence my earlier response.

To our Canadian brothers, I must say that it is time for you to start beating people in the streets with a large hammer. You’ve got to pay for dead chicks now? No. Grab that judge by his mangina ass and drag him into the street and all of you take turns whacking him with a baseball bat. I am now certain that This is the only way they’ll stop.

Learn from the past, Control the present, and you will know the Future.
