I always figured so called “man buns” are one of those secret signs used by the gay community to identify each other. That or just another stupid inexplicable thing white people do.

Short hair for men is more of a modern thing actually.

Not really. Not according to history.

Do you think the vikings were running around with crew cuts?

Actually, yes. The Normans (frenchified vikings) are well documented as sporting nearly skinhead bowlcuts shaved at the back. And the century before that a monk chronicler named Ælfric of Einsam commented on the short haircuts of the Danes.

Over our history as humans, long hair for men has been far more common than short hair. I just think it’s kind of foolish to equate long hair with being feminine.

Even further back there was commentary among the Greeks about Alexander the Great’s hair being too long to be considered truly masculine, and from all the statues of him it’s really wasn’t all that long by today’s standards. In fact, the Greeks and Romans and so on were generally against long hair on men because it gives an enemy something to grab.

tl;dr: Throughout history, hair length in men has largely been a matter of hygiene determining fashion, and short hair is easier to keep clean (and fit under a helmet etc.).

I want to beat the s~~~ out of every dude I see with a man bun. Young guys…WTF is your generation so f~~~ing soft??

For what it’s worth if you had tried that on someone such as myself you’d likely regret it. Ones hair style does not define their “hardness”.

Don’t judge, preconceived notions often lead to false realities.

I thought what I'd do was I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes...or should I?

Man buns, men with spools in their ears. Men wearing make up for non medical reasons.

Men are becoming feminized and just weird.

That being said, man-buns are for f~~s.

Yeah, plenty of masculine men have had long hair. Just look at pro wrestlers from the 80s and 90s.

    F~~~ man buns, I’m growing a mullet.

No s~~~. I happened upon a website that had demonstration photo galleries and the s~~~ was everywhere.

    What is a “man bun”?

It’s like a male Lady Gaga statement. Circa the “raw meat” dress.

He allows himself to look like he stinks and never washes. 21 year old guy with a 60 year old beard.

Basically not giving s~~~ about looking well put-toghther. Careful & fashionable attention may be paid to the shirt, clothes, shoes and tie…. but no shower before he puts it on. They even call it a “hair STYLE”. when there is no “style”-ing required.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.

Number one I said I want to do it doesn’t mean I really would do it. Number two it’s more about the way they also carry themselves and their entire vibe. I’m sure your vibe would be masculine.

I’ve actually never attacked anyone in my life who wasn’t trying to hurt me. I was pretty wild In my youth and fought several hundred fights so I get it…s~~~, we used to practice hitting each other full bore in our barracks then taking the hits just for fun!!! Lol.

But to generalize I just don’t understand this younger generation today and they seem to be really effeminate. Obviously that’s generalization and I’m sure there are exceptions.

I have nice long, wavy hair, like the King of Rohan:

The bun helps if I’m doing something where I can’t afford to have hair in front of my face (e.g., tennis), or if I’m having a job interview and I want to mitigate the chances of the interviewer regarding me as a junkie.

I have always maintained that long hair on a man is princely.

Working class men and soldiers could not afford to wear their hair long; as you said, it’s something the enemy can grab, and it gets in the way of work.

Only kings, men who command others to do work for them, could afford to have and maintain their hair like that.

Of course all the earliest depictions of Jesus show him short haired and beardless. Oc course this was from a time when Christianity was personal and human, not structured and autocratic. And coming from the middle east Jesus most likely would have sported a typical jewfro, not cascading locks. Only later did he aquire a beard and longer hair, and those depictions most likely derived from the old statue of Zeus after it was moved from Olympus to Constantinople before being burned down in a riot. The depiction you posted is based on the son of one of the Renaissance popes, I forget which. One of the creepy Medicis or Borgias, I believe.

Only kings, men who command others to do work for them, could afford to have and maintain their hair like that.

Not if they wanted to keep the support of the men they commanded. Look at what happened to long haired cavalier old King Charlie at the hands of the close shaven round tops.

On that note I saw a short-haired feminist on a treadmill. What were the chances….

Man buns are kinda in-line with mid-30’s hippie/professional blog writer in a Starbucks on his late-2016 Macbook Pro with touchbar.

The feminine touch is like a wildfire. Real men in North America are a dying species.

All valid points. Now it just breaks down to what is and isn’t considered “long” hair. 🙂

I’m quick to defend a man’s right to change his looks and styles etc. It has nothing to do with if I like (or don’t like) the style, but rather too much pressure is put on men to conform. The bluepill is a perfect example of conformity and how it hurts men. I refuse to join the ant-bun crowd. It was good enough for Samurais and if it p~~~es off woman, all the the better.

If a man has sovereignty over himself, he can have whatever haircut he wants, no matter how stupid he may or may not look.

    Ok. Then do it.

A couple of things that have baffled me about the younger generation (I’m in my late 30s).

    1) stretching your ears out with gages. Just awful.

    2) plucking your eyebrows.

I don’t know if this was a L.A. thing, but see a lot of guys with skinny jeans and these effeminate floral scarves in the middle of summer. WTF.

Small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
