Be aware that it came out a few years ago that some well known PC repair companies were actually working for the FBI to spy on the information in the computers of their customers and given the information they found to the FBI.

I would love to build and repair PCs for a living. I tried that with one gaming PC 2 years ago (remember?) and it was a disaster; I lost a year trying to sell it and $700, because eBayers think they’re entitled to an 80% discount on everything. That’s a way to discourage someone from trying to pursue something he’s into!

GOD! How many times do people have to tell you this? OLD, OUTDATED technology is worth LESS than NEW, UP-TO-DATE technology! It’s a fact of life! If you bought a NEW iPhone X and didn’t open it and sold it on eBay, you’d get about what you paid for it. If you had an OLD, USED iPhone 7, you wouldn’t get anywhere NEAR what you paid for it! Your crappy, 2 generations OLD PC that had been USED wasn’t worth ANYWHERE near what you paid for it because it was OLD and USED!

Here the things are more ghetto, those PC repair shops some times put malware to steal user information like logins & credit card information.
I won’t be surprised if today’s computers were returned with cryptocurrency miners when they went to this kind of shop.
