I found this video from WAY back to be interesting.  It goes into how people will subscribe to an -ism to get what they want and become enslaved in the process, particularly when they have government involved:

Well, from one perspective, there is a reason why I posted on here, and it is about that one.  From a broader perspective, I do see that anyone who subscribes to a single -ism as the foundation for everything, will end up being like in the video, and enslaved.  I wanted to have that as a broader perspective.  The thing about people into -isms is they have a determinism about their belief that will end up causing them to trample people they know under foot, because they believe their -ism will fix everything.  And those who it doesn’t help, well that person wasn’t worthy anyhow.

I am also writing here to address the post about Capitalism.  There are people who worship it as some sort of flawless engine, not realizing that people can then rig the system to their favor, and enslave a bunch of people to likes of debt, and other stupid consumer impulses.
