Ok since GMOW I’ve been feeling better and getting healthier. After about a decade of s~~~ I’ve successfully tapered off of antidepressants. It feels great. I also was on atorvastatin as my cholesterol was pretty bad. But the statin was giving me painful heartburn everyday (prior to this I had gotten heartburn maybe once a year, at most), in addition to the other problems it may have been causing (depression, memory problems, joint pain). Plus also with all the hassles and expense of dealing with health care and flaky insurance in the USA, and I just want to avoid doctors like the plague now.

I’ve been avoiding red meat and cheese lately. But I’ve read you can be missing out on some essential form of iron if you don’t get red meat. Avoiding cheese in general is probably for the best, as I am also overweight.

So anyway, any advice from guys who have been down this road?

Have a look at research around whether omega 3 oils reduces cholesterol.

A quick search of google brought up this link https://www.verywell.com/can-fish-oil-omega-3-fatty-acids-lower-cholesterol-698137

Brother, cheese and red meat are heavy in fats, but basically everything in our modern life, is full of sugar and fats.
Try to clean your diet as much as you can, forget processed foods, or those “healthy” foods/teas/juices/whatever.

Buy real food, vegetables, nuts, fruits, fish, eggs, white meat, stop using soy oil, that s~~~ is pure cancer. If you need any kind of oil, use coconut, olive or pure pig fat.

But for god sake, don’t just stop your meds and do something like this without a professional help. Talk to your doctor, do all tests that he asked, talk about leaving the meds, and do it progressively.

Don’t fear eating red meat or whatever, you just need to control what you eat. For example, a lean steak has far less fat than a donut, or a chocolate bar.

Forget all the propaganda regarding healthy foods, they are just targeting c~~~s that want a easy way to think that they are doing some diet. Focus on real food, beans, rice, salad, vegetables, meat, fish.

I have had similar ailments (memory, joint pain, lethargy, digestion issues) and after seeing several specialists most of whom were utterly useless it appears that one of the primary causes is dehydration (this has been proved true by increasing my water intake).

It more insufficient hydration than dehydration but the analogy that worked for me is that treating the body like a car, food is fuel and water is the oil.

If the body is not sufficiently lubricated (hydrated) then it is more difficult to process complex or processed foods and repairing the body due to toxins is also more difficult. I now tend to drink at least three litres, preferably more, every day and it has shown significant benefits including losing weight as my body can process food better and not store it as fats and balances cholesterol properly.

Joint problems also reduced considerably due to less inflamation and weight.

In terms of diet, based on the specialist recommendation I have no (processed) red meat or wheat and I never have dairy products anyway. Oily Fish and chicken are my primary proteins.

Iron can be obtained from green, leafy plants amongst other things but some red meat is OK in moderation.

This is quite a complex topic and there are many ways of achieving the same goal but the fundamentals are drink lots of water; exercise (I walk 5km every day); and know what you are eating.

The above works for me, but is best to determine for yourself what works best for you, preferably with professional help.

Cut sugars for triglicerids, no butter, cheese, lean meat red can be taken, no alcohol (promotes cholesterol síntesis), brown rice, eggs only white no yolk, walk, at least 10-15 km a day, I don’t care about the pace, but you have to walk or run.

No more sauces, fish is good, but never eat the skin.

They say artichokes lower colesterol, i don’t know.

    Good luck.

Don’t lower your cholesterol. It’s necessary to produce testosterone!!!

You are stuck in 1900s propaganda that “fat is bad”.
    It’s not!!

Stop eating sugar and starch instead.

And for f~~~ sake don’t drink juice!!

Fatty does not cause high cholesterol. High cholesterol is caused by excessive sugar and simple carbohydrates. The fat myth is a nutrition mistake from decades back. A keto diet will lower your cholesterol.

There’s so much newer research based on the topics of cholesterol and diet that you really need to start investing some TIME in researching it.

The days of Low Fat and High Carbs are gone for the most part. It appears that SOME people can live a healthier lifestyle with this approach, but MOST people just get fat and pre/diabetic.

Personally, a higher fat lower carb and medium to high protein diet works for me, and yes dump the statins.
