It is my 4th week on a diet. So far I have lost 24 lbs and feel a lot better. My blood pressure has gone down, and my diabetes is getting under control.

4 weeks ago I started a medically supervised diet. I was doing some things wrong on my previous attempts.

Now I eat 800 calories per day broken up into 6 meals spaced 3 hours apart. Since my body is always getting in some carbohydrates I don’t get any hunger pangs. (my “food” comes in little packets). I drink 1 gallon of water per day, and take a lot of multi vitamins, B-12, D3, C and Calcium Chews and Fish Oil.

    No cooking.

Hardest part is knowing I will be on this diet until around September which is when I should hit my target weight.

I will have a 1 month transition period where I will slowly reintroduce regular food back in.

Good for you, but be aware that most “diets” fail because the diets aren’t sustainable. People tend to relapse and go back to their old habits after the goals have been reached.
The diet plan you’re on seems like a good one, but if you find difficulty with it, don’t give up, just make it a more comfortable part of your everyday life and don’t call it a “diet” anymore. After reaching your goal, or if you don’t find lasting success with your diet; try eating small, but more frequent meals or snacks consisting of healthier foods and continue drinking lots of plain, clean water, especially at the beginning of your day. This keeps your stomach busy digesting all day and naturally increasing your metabolism permanently. Become more active and throw away the TV remote. Find people and things in your life that keep you active and moving. Obviously with your diabetes, you should keep following your doctor’s advice regarding changes in lifestyle, so check with him regarding the details.
Good luck. There are a lot of guys here who will help you with support and hopefully good advice.

Since my body is always getting in some carbohydrates I don’t get any hunger pangs. (my “food” comes in little packets).

The fish oil is buffering the blood sugar drops.

Carbohydrate and then no carbohydrate causes blood sugar drops.

Carb by itself drops in 90 minutes .

Adequate Protein with the carb stretches it to 3 hours.

Then, pre-added fat makes the drop slow over the 3-6 hour period.

FAT is crucial. It has been dishonestly labelled as the enemy when in reality it is your strongest ally to avoid going off of proper eating habits.

Congratulations on your achievement thus far.
    It’s a tough road, but a do-able one.
Rigorous dieting has another plus: you will KNOW that it is possible and won’t waste a nanosecond listening to laydeez spouting that it isn’t.

"It seems like there's times a body gets struck down so low, there ain't a power on earth that can ever bring him up again. Seems like something inside dies so he don't even want to get up again. But he does."

Congratulations! Keep up the good work! By the way, you are not on a temporary ‘diet’; rather, you are embarking upon a new lifestyle.

Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?

I might actually try that sometime. Thanks for your method. 🙂

Congrats on the hard work though I think you’re eating way too few calories. I tried that route and though weight was lost the constant lack of energy and clouded thinking was not worth it.

Most recently I switched to more balance approach of eating just at or below my daily expenditures. On weight training days I tend to eat just over. Doing this has resulted in far better workouts, increased happiness, all while losing fat / building muscle.

    Looking forward to your progress.

I thought what I'd do was I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes...or should I?

    @realitybites:
After your diet, you will face the huge challenge of maintaining the new weight.

Nutrition has been my hobby for a lifetime, so I read a lot.
The most scientific and best source I found is:
    wholehealthsource.blogspot.co.uk

A book from Stephan is coming, which should be more organised than his brilliant blog.

A lot of people don’t know that staying thin makes you age a lot slower too among the countless other benefits. Just look at Japan pretty much everybody there is young and seems to defy aging. Keep up the good work man it is very well worth it. 800 calories a day is pretty low though, I eat about 1500 a day now and I’m 150 pounds just saying.

Dieting is one of the hardest things I ever tried (must) do. I eat just 1 meal a day (I can’t go far on $92 SNAP a month) after 10 PM. I will admit I eat a lot of meats and proteins, and that explains why I have hard biceps.

I gave up on dieting, because for me it doesn’t work and I can’t manage it on the little the government provides me each month. It’s not like back in the old days when they gave me $200 a month and now they give me just $92.

I will confess that I did put on 15 pounds since Thanksgiving, but that’s all Christmas related.

As others have mentioned, it’s not so much the diet or initial weight loss. It’s keeping it off.

You need to readjust your lifestyle ever so slightly on top of making modificatins to your everyday eating.

I went under the knife as I was closing in on 500 lbs. I’ve lost half my weight so far but the challenge till today is keeping the mental hunger pangs out and to do that, I had to re-evaluate alot of my old lifestyle choices which lead me to that weight in the first place.

A medical supervised diet can only take you so far. In the end it’s only you that can reinforce the changes.

Key thing I would like to point out is never ever deprive yourself or you’re going to springboard back and gain twice as much as you lost. Have the occasional indulgence of your favorite food or drink and then be on your best behavior the rest of the time.
