I appreciate your viewpoint and ideally no one would need arms and we could live in peace.

Unfortunately the genie is out the bottle and arms are available. I see hand carry as insurance in a dangerous world. I wouldn’t use it unless my life was threatened. My point on the 2nd amendment is that the pilgrims had to leave this land to escape oppression by a heavily armed ruling class and their soldiers. The unarmed populace could not resist the will of their despotic rulers.

The right to carry arms as I see it was an attempt to prevent this one sided ballance of power repeating itself in the new land. I see that as forward thinking and egalitairian.

I don’t need to throw insults at you to make my argument. I would appreciate it if you paid me the same respect.

I’m open to your opinion.
