I’m a couple glasses in and wanted to share memories from my logic class from many years back. This stuff is useful every day.
An argument must pass the tests of validity and soundness in order to be considered logical.
——-
Validity describes the relationship of the premises to the conclusion. A valid argument is one in which the conclusion logically flows from the given premises. An invalid argument proposes a conclusion that is not supported by the premises.Example of an invalid argument:
All MGTOWs are men.
Bob is a man.
Therefore, Bob is a MGTOW.This argument is invalid since the conclusion is not supported by the premises of the argument. Just because all MGTOWs are men does not mean that all men are MGTOWs, so the identifying of Bob as a man does not mean he is MGTOW. In other words, the premises do not dictate the conclusion that is proposed.
Example of a valid argument:
All women are whores.
Sally is a woman.
Therefore, Sally is a whore. This argument is valid because the conclusion that is reached is supported fully by the premises.
——-
Soundness describes whether a premise is true or not. If a premise is untrue (unsound), then the argument itself is considered unsound.Example of a valid argument with an unsound premise:
White knights get all the pussy they want.
John is a white knight.
Therefore, John gets all the pussy he wants. In this argument, the conclusion flows logically from the premises, so the argument is considered valid. However, the first premise “White knights get all the pussy they want” is untrue, rendering this argument unsound.
"Once you’ve taken care of the basics, there’s very little in this world for which your life is worth deferring." -David Hansson. "It’s not when women are mean or nasty that anything is out of the ordinary. It’s when they are NICE to you that you have to be on high alert..." -Jackinov.

Anonymous12Tell me if I am understanding correctly..
“Women can wear skimpy clothing, be naked, or do porn without men thinking they are whores”
To me this is not valid as what we wear, how we present ourselves sends a message. If I were to walk around in a cops uniform you would think I was a cop.
Now let’s look at something that women will complain about a lot. “Men keep sending me dick pics” using the logic of the first statement this does not necessarily mean the men are being sleazy. Maybe they are just naturists.

Anonymous18AWALT.
Sound and valid.
AWALT
Sally is a woman
Sally is like that <- Sorry, Sally’s simpValid and Sound
"I've been thinking about what it would be like if we got back together."
"You know it's too late for that."An argument is composed of a list of premises or assumptions which, when combined, yield a conclusion. A single assertion would be considered an isolated premise and would not be considered an argument. An argument has to create some motion, to go somewhere or arrive somewhere based on multiple premises.
TheSpice used AWALT in an argument. I will try to fuse Morlock’s slutty example into an argument:
Women exposing themselves cannot rightly be judged as sleazy.
The rules for judging women are the same rules for judging men.
Therefore men exposing themselves cannot rightly be judged as sleazy."Once you’ve taken care of the basics, there’s very little in this world for which your life is worth deferring." -David Hansson. "It’s not when women are mean or nasty that anything is out of the ordinary. It’s when they are NICE to you that you have to be on high alert..." -Jackinov.

To me this is not valid as what we wear, how we present ourselves sends a message. If I were to walk around in a cops uniform you would think I was a cop.
So this would be an unsound premise.
If it were the conclusion reached after listing out the various premises for arriving here, then it may or may not be considered valid, depending on what those premises were."Once you’ve taken care of the basics, there’s very little in this world for which your life is worth deferring." -David Hansson. "It’s not when women are mean or nasty that anything is out of the ordinary. It’s when they are NICE to you that you have to be on high alert..." -Jackinov.
Is it just me? Or do I see stealth doing this each day after a hard day of work and relaxing by the fireplace with a drink.
You are all alone. If you have been falsely accused of RAPE, DV, PLEASE let all men know about the people who did this. http://register-her.net/web/guest/home
Logic was one of the best classes I took in college. If I recall it was in Arts & Sciences under Philosophy. I always thought it belong in The College of Mathematics.
B follows A, C follows B, therefore C follows A.
