It’s only since all the men in my immediate family died off and all that’s left is women and the men who married them. There’s only one uncle who’s so aloof he might as well live across the country, and one nephew who’s totally under my sister’s thumb. Family life has definitely deteriorated over the past decade. Communication became difficult and challenging long before I started taking the red pill, and then actual things started to happen that made me put my foot down. I get validation reading other stories here. In some ways I don’t have it nearly as bad. I’m a middle-aged man, not a teenager in need of their “guidance”, and there’s no rule saying families have to stay close. Not when people and situations become toxic.
