Lingerie model Jessica Michibata and 2009 World Formula 1 champion Jenson Button have announced their shock divorce, following Button’s worst season in the sport for 8 years. It was so unexpected!

The chart below shows that Michibata has an unerring sense of timing:

According to a statement, the couple are parting on amicable terms. Translation: Button is kissing her ass in public in the forlorn hope she won’t take all his money.

    Good luck with that, Jenson.

    Facepalm.

This guy was a pro F1 driver, and dated the same girl for years?! WTF was he thinking holy s~~~?!

Considering his fame & cash, he could’ve gone Tony Stark & nailed a new lingerie model every couple weeks.

Ah well, those divorce lawyers aren’t going to pay their own bills, and cupcake wants to get back on the carousel. Hopefully this guy will learn next time around.

One year of marriage and she has a money making source of her own. Notice I didn’t say career. I hope it turns out well for him consider the variables that normally get considered are actually in his favor.

@matt, that may actually be more of the case than we know. He may already have a girl, or 100, that he wants to bang at each track and that whole pesky marriage thing messes with his head.

Until I see a story that says she is the one who wanted out I’m thinking they realized together that dating was more fun. In ten (maybe twenty) years he’ll be a retired millionaire and nobody will want to pay to see her scantily clad any more.

I failed to realize in my youth that I was the prize. I was going to work. I was going to earn. Little did I realize that due to feminism, that no longer meant I had to share. Road soon, Desert after.

Somehow related to this thread is the documentary on Steve McQueen’s making of the movie Le Mans.
It’s on my DVD shelf and I recommend it.

They were only married for a year? She may get a little bit of money but alimony would only last for a couple years right?

Whether it’s alimony (paid out over time) or a settlement (paid all at once), he’s still going to be divorce-raped of >~%50 of his total assets. Potentially more, since a lot of divorce attorneys will take these cases, on behalf of the wife, on a “No Win/No Fee” basis. That is, the attorney will get 20% of whatever he gets for the wife – basically incentivizing divorce-rape from the point of view of the attorney.

I was married for <2.5 years. It still cost me 45% of my assets. Everyone i spoke to – 3 very experienced divorce attorneys, >100 guys who had been through similar experiences (men’s divorce support group), friends/acquaintances who’ve been through the same – every single one of them said mine was the cheapest divorce they had ever heard of.

Let that sink in for a moment. Married for a couple years. No allegations of domestic violence thank god. No kids. It *still* cost me 45% of my net worth. And that’s as cheap as it gets.

Now watch him bounce back now that his “support system” is gone.

This. It’s what men do best when they don’t have some bitch distracting them with all the s~~~ that makes up woman. It’s crazy how much a man can do on his own when he tries without a ball and chain around his neck.

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity. --Einstein

Damn. That’s just scary. Sorry that you were ripped off like that by someone who supposedly cared for you.

To think that just two years ago, I was still thinking that I was going to marry the girlfriend I had at the time. She was definitely the vindictive type and that scared me as time went on. I know that a majority of marriages end in chaos and I know that she is the type that wants to “teach a lesson”. I pulled away from the idea of marriage as time went on. Also as a test, I made mentions of how everything needs to be fair and equal, including bills and costs. She didn’t say anything but it was obvious that she did not like that idea. She made a few snide comments after I asked her to pick up the dinner tab a couple times- as if there is anything wrong with that.
