About 4 years ago I did the same.

Went to live in a Kung Fu school in China for 6 months. Best experience of my life.

Cost me about £3000 for 6 months of tuition, food, mandarin lessons and accommodation. I found it, quit my job a month later and flew out a month after that.

At the time I was only 23 so if I’d had more money I would have stayed.

No air con, limited hot water, BASIC accommodation. Life was great.

If anyone is thinking about it, I can recommend a school.

Best thing was meeting people from all over the world, with a love of martial arts and who just wanted a break from ‘traditional life’. One day I will return
