There is also an interesting thought I heard on modern “music” – that all these “Voice”s, “American Idol”s and “got talent” shows are inevitably going to lead to the situation, where will be no more grassroots independent talent left – no garage bands, no organic stars.
These shows are engineered that anyone with a talent will be scooped up by the industry from an early age and subverted and commercialized. This way the powers that be will gave complete control over content to make sure the masses never hear any anti-war anti-government or otherwise dissenting opinions in the music and culture in general. Anything thought-provoking is potentially dangerous. Independent message communicated virally through music and other art is very powerful and ideas are bulletproof, so everything needs to be under control to prevent that. The only good thing I can say about her is that she has a great set of pipes and can sing a lot better than Madonna or Beyonce. I think she realized that in today’s commercial market that would get her nowhere so she’s doing this crazy act and that’s what our society wants.
