Hideo Kojima (the guy who made Metal Gear) and Guillermo del Toro (crazy awesome Mexican director) were to work on Silent Hills- the relaunch of sorts that was planned to revive the Silent Hill series. PT (playable Teaser) was released to the public as a taste of their collaborative style. PT is considered one of the best, if not the best, horror game on the PS4, so there was much sorrow when Silent Hills was canceled and PT was pulled from online stores.
The end of the project sparked the start of a friendship and the two kept talking long after Silent Hills was canceled. With a petition that gained over 175,000 supporters as encouragement, the two have decided to work together to make a game on their own.
Is anyone else excited about this? Any hopes or theories on what the project will be like?
Beauty fades, dumb is forever.
It’s got to have buff guys blowing stuff up! Has anyone done an “urban fantasy” game? I’m thinking of Jim Butcher’s Harry Dresden series, or the books by Charles de Lint.

I’m hoping it’s something equally as terrifying as P.T. was. My best friend and I played that countless times in a row, and it NEVER got old. It was scary every time, considering how gorgeous the graphics were and how unpredictable the ghost in the house was. He accidentally deleted it a few weeks ago when he thought he was deleting the data (we did that to start the game over). We always had fun scaring people with it.

There have been a few, but they’re generally adventure games like the Gabriel Knight series or RPGs like the isometric ShadowRun games. I bet whatever they make will have a modern setting and some fantastic elements… whether it’s full urban fantasy or horror will depend on what you consider each one to be. The dividing line between the two is pretty fuzzy sometimes.

I’m also in the camp hoping for a horror game. The article mentions Psycho Mantis, so I’m thinking there may be some meta scares around. Eternal Darkness is super old now. We could use some fresh subtle scares and mindf~~~ery!

That’s great. I’ll be getting Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and whatever Kojima and del Toro (and possibly Reedus) cook up.
Konami can go f~~~ itself.
