It is said that karma is a bitch, and she is coming for our bitch ex-wives.

But, when?

So far, my ex has walked away with cash and prizes, new strange c~~~, years of my working life and pounds of my flesh. Oh yeah, and a couple of world tour vacations while I am becoming a regular at local food pantries. Oh yeah, and her father died so Id guess she got a lump sum inheritance too . . . Cashing in from all the males from her life. I’m not complaining. It has simply been an enriching season for her, tax-free.

Someone with such a strong sense of consumer entitlement and distorted view of reality is bound to have real problems when reality hits them square in the face.

But. They could also walk off with it scott-free. No consequences. I refer you to the history of civilization, where the rich got richer by the slave labor of the poor, who consoled themselves with religious ideals that in time the unjust wealthy rulers would pay, and their own reward will be seen after death.

Life isn’t always fair. And this simply seems like one instance of that. I’d still rather be me than her. But for the time being, she is living it up & dancing on my grave.

I use to ask this all the time, when my mentor would compliment me for ignoring the normal path. When do I get to see it matter?

One thing does matter here. Purpose.

I was raised very poor, but very happy for the front nine. There were two types of people that were the most empty: those with nothing left to earn, and those that had never learned to value the satisfaction of earning.

That is a void you cannot feel. That is THE void that will cause her to be her own downfall. You sir, are a survivor, not a victim. Those moments you find too often, where you smile at a view and peace strikes for the simplest of reasons is in fact a rare treat. I think we could all learn to value this more.

I am assuming that your wife, like most women, is a whole lot better at spending as compared to saving.

If this is the case, she will buy a bunch of crap, take a bunch of trips, and then before SHE knows it these “lumps” of cash will be gone, and so won’t her spending spree unless she can find a FAT wallet to keep pumpin in the cash.

Chances are she’ll blow through it all, and be broke and “LONELY”.

She was disinterested in finances until the day she left, while I was like a financial engineer. I worked harder than any of my colleagues and saved every dime. No eating out. No movies. No frills. We saved and invested it all towards financial independence. It was my vision and my leadership. The moment we hit a significant life savings goal, she announced her war and suddenly became an actuary of our personal finances. Like a math ninja. I had never seen her like that before.

Without her war, our net worth would have hit seven figures this year…the majority from my overworking. Instead, I got a chance to “start over.”

She spends a lot more than I do, mostly because she never worked for it as hard as I did. Nor has as strong long-term goals.

I hardly doubt many are consoled. But many people like to fool themselves thinking they have gotten away with stuff, and they find out the real truth later. They don’t. No one has to believe it but they will all eventually be face to face with the truth.

But take comfort in a saying I often think of –

That is so true. To find happiness and contentment within you is worth more than any money.

think of when you were at your happiest in life – was it because you were rich or had a big house, couple of cars?

I bet it was when you were poor and young and just starting out.

We will,never be happy if we compare ourselves to others. Exes are a liability for our future happiness.

And thus once again reaffirming my life of self centered laziness. If you have nothing that could be taken, you have nothing to lose. I had it figured out all along! That, and never get married, never have kids. I don’t know what I would do in some of your shoes. She sounds like an empty soulless consumer. With the way she’s been spending it’s to try and fill a void that she feels. The karma is that nothing she can buy will ever make her happy.

You are going to the food pantry and smile in bed alone at night. She sleeps on Egyptian cotton at foreign hotels, and she still can’t find happiness. Maybe the next half million will do the trick.
