I can’t leave society. I’ve tried it and it did not work. I don’t want to give up all the goodies of 21st century living, like indoor plumbing and central heat & A/C. Call me a wuss, but roughing it is too rough for me.

Therefore, I engage at the minimum level possible. Minimal expense. Minimal social entanglements. The fewer things I possess and the fewer affairs I am involved in, the happier I seem to be.
