It took me a few hours to take my room apart, hook up the receiver, rewiring my speakers so they don’t look like party streamers around my bedroom, and put my room back together and tested my new HD receiver. It was a lot of work, and I was sweating, but I now I went from a 5.1 to a 7.2 channel set up. So THAT’S what HD audio sounds like?! Damn that’s wickedly cool!

I tried it out on all my video/audio formats. I first used the audio optimizer test feature on the first Ice Age DVD bonus material to test out if I have the speakers in right, and it looks like I do. Then I tried it out on the Ice Age Blu-Ray disc and it sounds like I had ice cliff cave-ins from all around. Then I tried it out on my MP4 and MKV files off my flash drives and it works normally. Then it got real cool when I tried it out on my PS3 with Call Of Duty Modern Warfare and I had so many bullets firing from each speaker, I felt surrounded by enemy gunfire.

Not counting movie theaters, I never heard HD audio from a surround sound setup before this evening and I was blown away by how awesome it really is. The next thing to get is the subwoofer, now that I saved about $183 by getting a good deal off Amazon for it.

I think the next thing to get after the subwoofer would have to be a 4K UHDTV to replace my 720p plasma which now has permanent burn-ins. I guess that’s what happens when you leave the TV on long-term. There’s a Sony and only that one that’ll fit in my entertainment center. I want to go 50″, but because my entertainment center has 4 sides and the TV isn’t on top, but inside the main structure, I have to go with a 43.” If I didn’t have to reply on length and height to fit the TV in an space, I’d go 50+” but I have to go with a 43″ Sony and there’s only 1 43″ Sony and only that TV that’ll fit. Besides this is a typical 10 X 13 foot bedroom, not a living room; so a 43″ TV would be right for it.

Well I’m going to have a Coors Light and a pizza and then really see what I’ve got. I love my manly toys!

Good for you man I don’t have a lot of stuff but things like that I splurge on.

So satisfying having Ultimate entertainment room.

It’s good to splurge once in a while.

Make sure that the TV is HDCP 2.2 compliant. Otherwise it won’t be compatible with any 4k devices and will downscale the image quality.

I think most of the new TV’s on the market now are, but some of the older ones or cheaper branded TV’s aren’t.

Well my TV was bought in 2008 (just 2 weeks before the collapse of all times) and it’s a 720p Samsung Plasma 42.” It’s looking more like my next TV will be a 4K 43″ Sony, which is going for $700 at Best Buy. For what I’m looking at right now as I’m typing this, it looks good enough to where getting another TV isn’t urgent, other than the burn-ins.
