I’m 20 and have been mostly single ever since my first girlfriend at 16, thank goodness. I have recently decided to enter a relationship which I am usually very hesitant about. Although, this relationship was never about a ‘special connection’ but more just convenience (we have similar interests and schedules).

I first met the girl in a band I play in locally about 6 months ago. About a month after I met her we were chatting at a concert and she had something to get off her chest, it was a guy she was seeing through high school and he happen to be performing in the band we were watching. I thought to myself “heeeereeeee weee gooo, why does she think I care”. *Keeping in mind at this point this is well before we hooked up*. She said this guy’s name was Liam and she was very keen on him for a couple of years during year 11 and 12 but he never instigated anything. Fast forward to a few nights ago, my girlfriend has a 261 snap streak with a guy called Liam who is allegedly just a ‘friend’. Coincidence? no.

I brought it up with her in a non-aggressive polite fashion and she eventually spilled. Yes it was the same guy. Of course it was. Obviously there are some feelings she can’t shake off. If I’m honest, I don’t really care if this relationship ends this second, I have nothing to lose its only been a month or so of dating now.

I don’t doubt she is hiding more but should I even bother trying to get it out? I’m getting great sex and its hardly putting a burden on my wallet. At this point I know nothing apart from the fact they interact a lot on social media. Maybe I should just take a step back and continue to enjoy the relationship while it lasts. Worst case, she’s f~~~ing Liam but who cares I’m not marrying the bitch. But surely some of you agree if your girlfriend has a 261 snap streak with a guy she used to hook up with, that is a major red flag.

First off, it’s the big tell. Why is he JUST a friend? You don’t introduce your friends as JUST friends. They are your friend. When she uses the word JUST, you know sexual tension is in the relationship. It means that Liam wants to have sex with her, or she’s thinking about sex with him.

Second, don’t let anyone get away with “just a friend”. Friends are extremely valuable. My watch is “just a Timex”. My friends aren’t just friends. They matter.

A lot of really awesome stuff said on this chain. Its so true though, depressed older men that are married always same thing to me, why would you get serious with a woman? We are at an age in society where we owe nothing to women.

I don’t think I give a s~~~ about her enough to dump her, I could definitely get away with some cheap dinners and a few f~~~s before I get rid of her.

I also like the idea of assuming she’s f~~~ing him, then if I find out I’m already mentally equipped to deal with the situation appropriately.
