According to this website, some college students think Judge Judy (Sheindlin) is a member of the Supreme Court:

I hear politicians talk about the value of a good education (in the United States) every year, but I don’t see them spending tax revenue in a way that would show some positive results for students who are about to enter the work force. They talk about preparing our youth for college, but many youth are not prepared to go our distinguished universities—particularly those that grow up in impoverished urban and rural areas. There are two major problems I see:

    1) A lack of LEARNING (despite the amount of money spent on school facilities and its staff) in elementary and high schools.

    2) A lack of parental supervision. Some parents are too busy or distracted to monitor the academic progress of their children.

What I would like to see is a national campaign to give Americans the basic information they should have to get into a community college. Once they get to that level, they should be prepared for any university they strive to qualify for. I want the politicians to find out why some students are failing to learn and figure out a better way to teach them.

Beyond that, I would like to see some national effort to eradicate illiteracy. It bewilders me how some people can get through the day without READING! I wonder how anyone who is illiterate can get a job…but apparently, these people get hired for some kind of labor. When it comes to literacy, why can’t the United States rank better than Finland?

I’m tired of seeing people standing around convenience stores or holding up “help” signs next to freeway off-ramps. They spend the day begging for money and talking about their problems when they could be contributing something positive to our society. I want them to have the knowledge and skills to earn a paycheck. Many social problems—related to unemployment—would disappear if these politicians were serious about creating a nation of educated, self-sufficient citizens.

    Work is not fun.

Learning is less fun than watching TV or browsing fakebook.

The main thing are parents are too self absorbed to care what their children learn. Just don’t bother me and go back to your game/tv.
