U.S. Rep. John Conyers — beset with allegations of sexual harassment by former staff members — announced Tuesday that he is retiring.
The 88-year-old Conyers made the announcement while speaking with Detroit radio talk show host Mildred Gaddis. He was not clear on when the retirement becomes effective.
“I’m in the process of putting my retirement plans together,” he said from a hospital. “I am retiring today.”
—Liberals taking out each other. The most ironic part of all of this is that this was the main accusation used to take out conservatives and it is the liberals that are the criminals.

Anonymous4388 years old and making decisions that affect the rest of the country? are you kidding me? How strong is the thirst for power that drives this old f~~~? And anyone running against him can’t call him out for being old and decrepit.
As *another* accuser steps forward and accuses him of sticking his hand up her skirt…IN CHURCH! what a lowlife! http://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/2017/12/05/fourth-conyers-accuser-sex-harassment-claim/108324412/
An educated, armed populace cannot be enslaved.
Keep in mind this resignation was over government revenue being used as hush money for sexual harassment claims against members of the Congress and the Senate.
This scandal is only growing larger by the day.

Say it isn’t so! The funniest part: Payment of the hush money is PERFECTLY LEGAL, indeed, enshrined in Almighty Federal Law.
Thus far, $17 million has been paid out under the so-called ‘Congressional Accountability Act’. Legislation is ALWAYS entitled the opposite of what it does, as other posters have indicated. I think this is my FAVORITE NAME for a law, though.
The Act was passed in 1995 : 98-1 vote in the Senate, and 390-0 in the House. ‘Accountability’: Paying hush money and not having to disclose it (until now!)
I am glad Conyers is out of office.

Anonymous1John Conyers is a great representative for MI, totally corrupt and rotten. Just like Detroit, Rotten from the inside out. Absolutely amazing just how corrupt things really are here, year after year…(sigh)
People in the Detroit area like to keep their congressional seats in the family. Conyers will likely be succeeded by his son or a nephew. Nearby is the “Dingell seat,” which has been filled by members of the same family for nearly eighty-five years, since 1933.
