In the 1936 Olympics, Hitler initially shook hands ONLY with German victors (he left the stadium, some historians say for other engagements). He was then asked to shake everyone’s hands or no ones, and he opted for the latter.

Owens himself, one of the greatest athletes in the 20th century, indicated Hitler had not specifically snubbed him. When asked about it, he indicated he went to the Olympics to RUN, not shake hands.

However, rather than focusing on one individual, it’s far more telling to read what Hitler thought of the black race directly, from Mein Kampf:

“It was and it is the Jews who bring the Negroes into the Rhineland, always with the same secret thought and clear aim of ruining the hated white race by the necessarily resulting bastardization, throwing it down from its cultural and political height, and himself rising to be its master.”

Some French soldiers occupying the Rhineland after WWI were black, and Hitler smeared them for political gain.

Also keep in mind, at this time, after his Olympic victories in the United States, Owens had to take the FREIGHT elevator up to a reception honoring him at the Waldrof-Astoria because BLACKS WEREN’T ALLOWED IN THE FRONT DOOR.

And remember, only the WHITE athletes were invited to see and meet president Roosevelt. The 1936 Olympics were incredibly politicized.

I don’t see much difference between the discriminatory laws and practices in America, and the contemporary Nuremberg Race Laws of 1935, prohibiting intermarriage. In both countries, race was and is used for political gain and to divide people.

Are you familiar with Schwarze Schmach? ‘Black Terror on the Rhein’? This was the organized propaganda campaign by the German post WWI government to discredit the occupiers by claiming these black soldiers raped white women. Similar to the media in the US South in the same era. Ever hear of the German Emergency League against the Black Horror? It was politics, to detract attention from Germany’s own war crimes.

French government policy was to use colonial troops from Africa so that native troops could more quickly rebuild France. Part too, they were used to humble Germany, since Germany itself, was left without colonies following WWI.

Multiculturalism, or the presence of multiple ethnic or cultural groups within a society, isn’t necessarily a problem at all. I know plenty of hardworking Hispanics, Blacks, Asians, and Indians. My main issue with immigration is taking in political refugees who don’t want to work.

I would say some cultures are toxic; the culture of government dependence in the inner cities of America AND in rural America, immediately come to mind.

I am curious why it may be important to spend time to try to adjust my thoughts or opinions of Hitler. Do I happen to get some cookie somewhere for thinking he is less evil than I do now? As for ‘then’, meaning post WWI/inter-war period: I know of no research, nor can I find any, on WWI French colonial soldier rapes that breaks it down by race. So I’ll believe it when I see it.

Moving closer to ‘now’ — As for later wars: Black American GI’s were more likely to be *convicted* for rape in WWII, than whites, where there IS some data. Of course, they were also more likely to be charged, for a variety of reasons.

And of course, the Japanese pretty much institutionalized and systematized rape with the largely Korean comfort girls, and the Rape of Nanking in WWII. And the Allies committed rapes during the liberation.

Use of chemical warfare, unrestricted u-boat warfare, collective punishment in Belgium and the invasion of Belgium itself in WWI, violated previous treaties Germany had agreed to in 1839, 1899, and 1907. Thus, they constitute war crimes. Which of these treaties or actions is ‘a fabrication’?

That said, all nations commit war crimes; the Brits used mustard gas in WWI after capturing a German stockpile of it, before they developed their own deployment weapon for it.

And of course, victors determine what constitutes war crimes. Take WWII: Had the Germans and Japanese won, the firebombing of Dresden and Tokyo, and the A-bombs dropped upon Hiroshima and Nagasaki would likely have constituted ‘War Crimes’ by Germany and Japan. And Hitler didn’t invent the concentration camps. The Brits did a pretty good job of starving and killing people with disease in the 2nd Boer War.

Citing but one example: The Roman empire was multicultural and it lasted 500 years. Survives for how long? ‘survives’ is a slippery term; no government, fortunately, survives forever.

Different outcomes, same toxicity. Handouts to the (largely white in my State) rural poor don’t encourage these individuals to get jobs. They encourage them to stay in areas with no jobs, and produce offspring who also have poor prospects, who then live off the government t*t. And it creates ‘jobs’ for social workers in charge of the handouts. I would regard this as governmental policy creating or enabling a societal trend.

The black men and women in my suburban neighborhood commit violent crimes such as murder and rape, at similar rates to the white population; it is the black underclass primarily in the urban cores, that have a toxic culture, and commit a dis-proportionate amount of violent crime, varying over the last 100 years, but around 5-7 times rates in the middle and upper classes of both black and white races. Their genetics have nothing to do with their criminality; indeed, there are African countries with significantly lower violent crime rates that the US. It is the toxic, pathological CULTURE, of this black underclass, and the governmental policies that encourage it. For instance, giving money to single mothers, instead of putting the children up for adoption or placing them in orphanages. Or, laws against drugs that create high prices / markets for organized crime. All terrible policy unless your goal is to fill prisons.

Good question! I regard this as some sort of attempt to ‘rehabilitate’ the Fuhrer and/or Nazism. I don’t give a *hit if he gave Owens a handshake AND a pat on the back, Hitler (~25,000,000 deaths), Stalin (~20,000,000 deaths), and Mao(~40,000,000 deaths) were the biggest killers of the 20th century, hard to rehabilitate any of them. Hence my reference to what IS well-documented, Hitler’s views on blacks, spelled out in Mein Kampf.

You’re changing the subject. I did not say the Allies did not engage in fabrications and propaganda. German violation of the three cited treaties is FACT. So again, I ask, which of the treaties or violations thereof is the ‘fabrication’ you stated?

First, I’m libertarian, so hardly a ‘leftist’. Facts are not an agenda. The Roman legions were made up of a broad range of races and cultures, as were the residents of Rome. The ruling class, was drawn from an ever-increasing part of the world. One ruling class? We have that here, in America. Our rulers are primarily rich, and connected. Even religion drew from the provinces, with Romans worshiping Isis and Mithras. Certainly it was radically different than our social order, with many being partial citizens, in the territories, etc. And of course, you had slaves, but the slaves were not all of one race or culture, they were simply from conquered territories. So even slavery was multicultural. Highly educated Greek slaves might teach the sons of an aristocratic Roman.

You may well be right on that; estimated deaths in the Great Famine vary widely due to poor records.
