When Jair Bolsonaro addressed a crowd in a poor, violent area of Rio de Janeiro this week, the man long considered too extreme for the nation’s presidency was greeted with shouts of “the myth, the myth!”

In elections starting on October 7, the far-right ex-army captain and long obscure congressman could almost turn the fantasy of his campaign into something near reality.

Loathed by much of Brazil for his insults against women and gays, his alleged racism and crude exhortations for “bandits” to be shot down, Bolsonaro has surprised many by becoming a frontrunner.

The only politician currently more popular is the leftist ex-president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, a leader who also divides Brazilians — only in the other direction.

Lula would easily win the election, according to polls, but he is in prison for corruption and very unlikely to be allowed on the ballot.

Brazil is like a lab running a lot of social tests.

Bolsonaro has never said anything agains black/gay/women, but against crime. Since more than 60.000 Brazilians are killed yearly, 25% of population gets money for free from “bolsa família”, we can see in the streets kids of poor families using cellphones that costs 6 month of their income (probably stolen), we can imagine why too many hates him.

The first famous video of Bolsonaro was an argument with Maria do Rosário (a leftish crazy, part of criminal human rights), when Maria was talking in favor of a 16 years old rapist that raped for 5 days and killed a random girl and Bolsonaro said that she did not deserve to be raped. She started saying “what’s this? what’s this? what’s this?” and accused him of apology to rape (total craziness).

The craziness always goes far. Lula is jailed, he puts Haddad as candidate with vice Manuela Dávila (another stupid leftish/comunist/feminist/*ist woman), to fight for the presence of women in politics, all the PT’s advertising shows only Lula (convict) and Haddad, Manuela is just mentioned in the background.
