I’m being ordered to pay rehabilitative alimony. The problem I have is that she is employed in a good job, I have to pay her 6 figures for the house buy out, and pay $2800 a month in child support for one child. So, she gets a payout equal to 4 times the average income of a middle class family income, she gets child support equal to the income of a middle class family, AND gets a period of alimony. I’m left scratching my head how a judge thinks a woman getting enough money to buy a nice house, enough child support to cover every expense, and a well paying job, somehow needs more money to ‘get back on her feet.’

The reasoning was made clear when the order stated that the decision was made due to “the plaintiff’s ability to pay.” There was no fairness or justice in this decision. It was just the court’s decision that I could ‘afford’ to give her anything she wanted. Forget all of the solo hard work I put into getting here, the bills I have to pay, the things I want to do with my life, etc. You wanted to save up so you could retire early, sorry, give all your money to her, because of reasons…

My alimony will end in June, 2020. I feel like joining May-7 in celebrating that year. It will be a good year brothers.
