A Columbia University scholar recently published her Ph.D thesis on “asexual microaggressions,” claiming that it is a form of discrimination against people who don’t form romantic relationships with others. It’s an all new way to be oppressed

The researcher also calls on researchers to embrace an “intersectional” approach that incorporates other venues of oppression, as most of her research candidates were “young white women” who may not share the experiences of others.

I think the article is as Grue’s title suggests. Those who choose not to date can be subjected to aggression from others. I don’t necessarily think this is a women are oppressed article.

I don’t think that’s quite what the author is saying. She’s saying if you don’t waste your resource on cupcakes then you may face aggression, and I don’t think we would disagree with that.

That’s exactly what the thesis is about and it’s stated very clearly in Milo’s article. Of course, you were to determine that because you actually read the article and instead of just reacting to the click bait headline.

Im not saying that she isn’t a feminist nutcase who will p~~~ over men at every opportunity, it’s just in this case she was focussing on “asexual” issues and got information from the only people who would talk to her i.e. women.

Are gender studies theses usually a pile of poo? yes.
Has she accidentally got it right on this occasion? possibly.
Is this thesis specifically a man-bashing exercise? Can’t tell from the information available.

It may be it’s the usual “equality” and “gender studies” analysis that only focuses on what women say, even if it affects men too.

If this paper is the kind of s~~~e that passes for a Thesis nowadays, then obviously modern Degree/PhD Certificates aren’t worth wiping my ass with. Jesus Christ. I remember when a Thesis had to be something remotely intellectual and not just made-up tripe like this. What a bag of bollocks.
