While I do enjoy the action of lifting is all the work and money worth it to you guys?

I have to eat 3.5k calories a day to maintain my weight, It takes time getting my meals together, and it costs me like 600 bucks a month all in all.

And for what to be bigger for bitches I dont care about?

I also have ibs and back problems so its just a pain in the ass.

What do you guys think? Experience. Stories.

Funny that you should mention this. When I was 48 years old I filed for divorce I had been lifting for about 3 years and I was pretty big. nice lady came along and snatch me up. She and I begin to use human growth hormone the kind that comes from Israel the real HGH. We only had to sleep a couple of hours a night we f~~~ed for at least 6 went to the gym for a couple and did our chores and so forth. By the time I was 50 years old I didn’t need glasses anymore I didn’t even have to go to the gym and I was adding more muscle than I knew what to do with. I grew half an inch at 50 years of age. And yet despite all this despite the fact that I looked 20 years younger than I was it didn’t make any difference because the woman I was with was after all a woman. I ended up having to cut her loose and that really hurt because she was a good woman butt I had no time to spare for her. Since then I have discovered that if a woman is actually interested in me it is for who I am not what I look like. So in the last 7 years I have dated women except for the last 6 months I guess just looking like I do naturally. I have actually gotten better Tail. To be honest only lift weights if it makes you feel better f~~~ everybody else.

By all means do some form of exercise. Is it necessary for you to bulk up? Not in my mind, but being fit and strong is a good idea.

Six-hundred bucks a month sounds way too high when compared to alternatives.

I’m considering buying in CAP hexagonal dumbbells, and an adjustable bench for the basement so for when I can’t make it to the gym which is often.

$600 a month on food?! Sure makes my $92 SNAP a month seem very poor. You must eat a lot of meats and seafood.

Ok here is my situation. I’m 45 and both of my knees are bad because of over lifting trying to get my legs bigger.

Now I have the common black man complaint about their legs I have the high calf so for years tried and tried to get them bigger.

The other parts of me arms, chest, shoulders were just fine.

Now I thought because I was training my legs hard and thought they’d hold up but no they’re real bad. The left is not as bad as the right. The right I have bursitis behind the knee where it bends and my right knee pops out of joint where I have to violently kick my leg to pop it back in place. If you remember Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon with his shoulder, that’s me with my right leg.

So at 45 the whole thing with lifting heavy I wish I could take back. Now I can’t play hockey anymore and you should see me get in and out of a chair. It’s almost comical.

I eat about 3000/day but buy in bulk the foods I can’t get from Hunting, fishing, gardening ect I’ve even thought
of making my own bread! so in reality it costs me less than $100/wk to eat. Also I don’t eat out.

Funny that you should mention this. When I was 48 years old I filed for divorce I had been lifting for about 3 years and I was pretty big. nice lady came along and snatch me up. She and I begin to use human growth hormone the kind that comes from Israel the real HGH.

Careful with that stuff brother,I’ve known guys on it and it will mess you up inside in time, although you’ll look great on the outside, not worth it IMO.

I’m considering buying in CAP hexagonal dumbbells, and an adjustable bench for the basement so for when I can’t make it to the gym which is often.

Thats what I started out with plus a bench and bar, slowly adding as I got better. Most of the
info I get too is from good web sites like
BodyBuilding.com but stay off the forums, too
    much ‘bro science’ there.

So weightlifting plus a healthy diet and good rest has done more for me than just improve my health,my mind is sharper and more focused,I’m more relaxed, less stressed and confident. It has nothing to do with women, funny because they notice me more now but I could care less.

Ok here is my situation. I’m 45 and both of my knees are bad because of over lifting trying to get my legs bigger.

I’m pushing 50 and yeah I have to take it easier as well
A lot of young guys go guns ho and over train, not giving their body time to rest in between.

Still I’ve found that even with a basic routine of compound lifts for an hour, three X a week was still
enough to keep me in pretty good shape.

I believe it’s common misconception that men lift heavy weights and drive fancy cars to impress women.

    It’s gyno BS.

Men do it because it’s physical exertion and sweating and it releases endorphins. Teenage boys lift to impress women. But they also seldom return to gym after 3 months.

Weightlifting feels great and it is rewarding but you don’t have to go crazy with it. Being physically fit and toned is good enough tbh. Strengthening your body takes time and dedication and the more you do it the more you’ll see it as a hobby and a necessity for your health rather than something to impress women.

Of course it is. Remember that bodybuilding isn’t the only form of weightlifting. I just eat so I’m not hungry with a focus on real food (not processed junk) and lift three times a week (about 2 hours each week total). I’m not bulky but I’m no longer the skinny guy I was in high school. I have approximately 10% bodyfat. That’s without worrying about what I look like. I just focus on getting stronger.

I can squat well over 150% of my bodyweight which is not anything to brag about but I’m still stronger and healthier than 99% of the people I meet.

When I was closing in on 40 I worked out at a gym that was mostly “older” guys. You know, guys in their 50s and 60s who don’t seem so old to me now. We used to play pick up basketball games a couple of times a week. There were even a few guys in their 70s out there playing.

At some point you stop looking backwards at the 22 year old guy with a six pack and start looking at your future and the things you still want to be able to do. In my 50s I want to be able to shoot some hoops with my buddies, play a little golf, swing a tennis racket, go hiking, travel without worrying about not being able to walk all day.

Working out keeps your body functioning so you can do all of those things. Yeah, I go lower weights and more reps now so I don’t injure myself. Every once in a while I try to lift too heavy and pull a muscle, and it reminds me that I’m not in my 20’s anymore. Someday I’ll learn my lesson for good.

I think back at my grandfather in his 50’s. He looked like a grandfather. I don’t. I gotta think working out helps with that.

As I got older I got tired of competing with the “how much can you bench” crowd. I started concentrating on keeping what I had and staying mobile. The same guys that could bench over 400 are now complaining about their elbow joints. Guys that could do over 300 on the over-head press now have problems with their shoulders. Mainly the rotator cuff. Another guy used to squat in the 600’s. His knees are shot and he’s had several surgeries to help the problem.
My point is that it is worth it to work out and train but not so much that you cripple yourself in the process. Like anything, moderation is the key. Too little and you become immobile in your 70’s. Too much and you are crippled in your 60’s.
I use my body weight as a bench mark. I weigh 210 and I max bench at around 225. Same for squats and dead-lifts. I’m still young at 48 but I see no need to do much more than that. I workout to stay fit and mobile and not to try and set records. If I have similar numbers when I turn 60, I will be happy.

When I was a young blue pill kid I lifted weights for sports and to help me get ladies. As a man, it is worthless. Stay fit, ride a bike, lift only moderately to stay strong, do NOTHING to add weight to your body. In the long run it will wear you out in every way, joints and bank account. Staying lighter is the key to a long life without pain. Heed these words, do nothing for women, take care of yourself for you.

I keep it simple with the following – mostly free – exercises: running, walking, basketball, abs, push-ups (various kinds), two 25-pound dumb bells for all kinds of weight lifting exercises, and a pull-up bar. I’m telling you that with just those things. you will look and feel great. I know I do. That’s all I need at 42. I used to be gym rat in my younger years. Although I loved it at the time, its just too much f~~~ing work at this point in my life.

    Fitter.
In better shape in my 40s than I was in my 20s.

In better shape in my 40s than I was in my 20s.

I’m 57 now, and I think I’m stronger than I was at 40. I lift a little bit, mostly with 30-40 lb. dumbbells. Not enough to hurt myself. I haven’t been doing it long, but my arms and shoulders are noticeably more toned, and I feel a lot stronger. My weight has not changed much at all. No diet modifications. I eat when I feel so inclined, as always.
I was always kind of skinny, and I’m still not heavy (6’6″, 205 lbs.) but I figure if I can stick with it I’ll feel less old and helpless as time goes on. To me exercising is about maintaining abilities, whether it be running, walking, kicking someone’s ass, f~~~ing, etc. Moderate weight lifting can help a lot. Adding 50 lbs at my age, not so much.

Being fit and healthy is always worth it. If you perform lifts properly and progress slowly over time you can avoid injury. Plus exercise in general has a lot of health benefits including an increase in cognative abilities. Plus being unfit and eating unhealthy might limit your options to grow as a person. I might just be biased since I think of the gym as a way to relax.

“Strong people are harder to kill than weak people and more useful in general.”

    ― Mark Rippetoe

This really motivates me to become strong. You don’t have to be an Olympian athlete or the number one pound for pound fighter on the planet, but becoming stronger just enough to carry your own weight should be adequate for most people. Plus you feel healthier and have more vitality to enjoy the things you like.

It’s worth it. But like it was mentioned before, 600 USD per month is a bit much though.

Being in a great shape is important. It has mental and physiological benefits.
