I have been dating someone for about 9 months now and my friends around me that have dated that long are already engaged. It seems like people are already engaged by the time they reach a year dating.

The woman asking the question doesn’t mention her age. 9 months is a relative amount of time depending on how old you are, 9 months in your early 20’s isn’t that long given how much people change in that time and how much life span you have left.

Also she seems like she just wants to get married to be like her friends and not be the odd one out. Typical female mentality.

Marriage started dying somewhere around 10 years back.  It is just starting to rear it’s ugly head now: hence the avalanche of 30-something women going through baby panic, as well as 40-somethings going through “I don’t want to die alone” panic.  I am pushing 50 and I have never seen anything like it, a guy could make and entire lifestyle out of the “F*ck and chuck” technique if he targeted “panic” women.

Generally one thing I have been good at lately, is predicting future trends purely by observation.  There is no question in my mind that within the next 30 years, we will have the early stages Brave New World.

It has already started.  Guys in my age range will remember the movie Logan’s Run, and for younger guys this is a SciFi must have.  If you remember when Logan is at home, he uses “The Circuit” which was essentially “swinging”.  Now we already have The Circuit, the app Tinder is essentially the same thing – more people use it for hookups than for date seeking.
