Is there a reason you have to be 18 years or older to be a MGHOW?

Because I have been a MGHOW since pretty much childhood and bathed in red pills. I didn’t even know such a movement has existed.

What relation has age to do with being a red pill MGHOW or being a member in this forums?

I think that just means you are an adult and able to make your won decisions and all that, lest the “evil MGTOW corrupt my little boy” type deal. Legal reasons I bet.

It doesn’t. But in the western world, by law, you can’t ( officially or legally ) “make up your own mind” and “go your own way”. You’re not a free-thinking adult until you are 18. You can argue that to the moon and back again – and I would agree with every point you make – but parents are 100% responsible for their kids actions and behavior until they are 18.

Age plays no role in the merit of an argument. That’s true. Neither does sex, marital status, business success, race, personal experience or level of education. A 5 year old can spit out more honesty than a 50 year old. But the “18” thing is purely there as a metric and guideline. Just as someone under 18 thinks it’s their “right” to post here….., we have to establish this official minimum to give us the right to delete them. Only once has this been necessary, because a 15 year old guy was bringing in too much toxic and upsetting feminist stuff and allowing it to severely upset him.

Also, at 15, it’s a good bet he hasn’t even dated or kissed a girl yet – or interacted with adult women on a real personal level. So in the same way that it’s totally unreasonable for 16 year old girls to say s~~~ like “all men want is sex” (or whatever automatic feminist mantra they chant before they even step out into the real world)…. there needs to be an established minimum for posting an opinion…. and he needs to be able to back it up.

A 15 year old young man who has experienced severe hardships is not under his own jurisdiction to govern himself. So if he has endured abuse (for example), and needs help, a men’s rights site would be better for that.

A young man under 18 may learn alot here…. and he doesn’t need to be more than an observer. The right to create posts is not even the point. There is so much experience and material that already exists on the site for him to learn from…… to keep him busy until 18 at least.

We’re actually very surprised by the number of under-18 guys who ASKED FOR PERMISSION to participate (before we made the +18 guideline on 10.22) . They were very cooperative and were totally willing to hang back as observers – even though some of them made introductions. We actually got an email from a -18 girl who was stomping her feet and thought she was clever “HA HA !! IM A GIRL AND I SIGNED UP!!! HA HA!!!I HAVE A RIGHT TO BE HERE!!! “.

Uh…. no you don’t.

-18 guys just don’t behave like that. We’ve never seen it.

I was a participant in a thread once in which one member admitted he was 17 and KM had to address the issue. The rule was made to protect the site for the reasons Silverstone described.

I think Tiga K might be referring to a thread I remember. A young man admittedly below legal age was asking for advice about getting laid. He repeated his age a few times to hammer it in. This is not as harmless as it sounds. The kid was advocating statutory rape, a serious crime.

Had anyone been suckered into it, they may have been accessories before the fact. Frankly, the first thing that crossed my mind is that he was a troll and was trying to set this site up for a nasty fall.

At best, he was ill advised to make it public that he was embarking on underage sex. There has been a flurry of prosecutions of underage high school kids emailing each other nude pictures. Actually doing the deed would have gone even worse for them, and anyone who aided and abetted them.

The question has been pretty much answered, so I’ll just drop this in and leave: You don’t have to be 18 to be a MGHOW or MGTOW, but you do have to be of legal age (Usually 18)to join a website.

It used to be about 15 years ago that websites said you had to be 13 to join.

It makes sense to have the age high here though. Need to be an official adult to GYOW.

With respect you are simply wrong about that, it is no longer the case that parents are responsible for the actions of children. Many children have been tried as adults and in situations like the Amanda Todd case, her parents where never criminally tried for negligence. There are a great many situations where parents are all but let off for the actions of their children. Hell statutory rape victims are forced to pay child support. Children are allowed to make decisions and trust me they pay for it like everyone else, the legal systems sees them as agents pure and simple. I am 17 years of age and frankly if I were to commit a crime more serious than jay walking at any time in the past 4 years I would be tried as an adult. In fact if I were to violate traffic law say running a red light doing 140km/h I would be arrested. The only contact between the police and my parents would be a phone call and that would be if I were lucky.

People like that should be banned without appeal that much I can understand. But frankly if you look at court rulings children are given the status of adults when it comes to their wrong doing. Then they are given the status of children when it comes to everything else. So I ask why not afford them access to this forum considering the fact the law views them as adults in many situations. This site is not storm front or a porn site, nor are we tumblr. If anything tumblr does more to corrupt the youth and they don’t play by an 18+ rule. I can understand some kind of age gate but 18 seems a little high.

It most likely has to do with being the “legal age.” You’re considered an adult and thus fully aware of what you know and the potential magnitude your actions have on life in multiple respects.
