I was reading some threads here on the MGTOW forums and noted several times members say that porn is toxic.
I am curious as to why the members of mgtow might have that view.

But the point is, is your life going to be better if you refrain from watching porn?

Well, if you cannot function well without sexual activity, then it is probably better to use porn than it is to have sex with a woman that you cannot trust. If that doesn’t fit you though, you’re probably better off avoiding porn if at a possible. Perhaps it’s more like alcohol consumption. A little bit is not that big of a deal, and maybe good for in some sense. However, too much takes a toll on the body and out right addiction can ruin your life.

Porn is porn. Videos or pictures of people having sex or doing sexual acts. Can it affect people negatively? Sure. Are the people that make it lowlifes? Absolutely. But to imply that something is “toxic” is implying that it is poisonous or chemically unsafe for human consumption.

Ingesting insecticides, eating tainted food, and getting bitten by a venomous snake are all “toxic”.

I agree. The funny thing, is that since going my own way, its even more disgusting. I honestly don’t like the idea of intimate physical contact… I still love women.. Despite the fact that I use porn it is not something I would allow my daughter to do. Hypocritical, yes, but me and mine first, my community next, and the world much further down the list.

Porn has been working for me but like anything I suppose it can become a problem for some. The industry is certainly exploitive in many ways. I still have a good collection of porn.

That’s not a fair analogy, as there is a difference between consuming media and being the media. If my son or daughter (many years from now) told me that they have seen a porn video, I would be indifferent. However, if either told me they had participated in a porn video, I would be rather concerned, far from indifferent.

It’s not really different then the master key and the s~~~ty lock analogy, where a man is a stud and the woman is a slut.

I understand that with porn, like with sex, that it takes two to participate…there would be no porn stars without porn consumers, yet both are participating of free will and one of them investing a whole lot more of themselves, effecting their image/reputation as well as getting paid to do so while the other is participating privately (most likely).

Really, if you’re going to make the argument that the porn consumer is just as ‘guilty’ as the porn star, then you are saying that you’re responsible for other peoples faults as well as your own when you enable them to behave badly. Without your cooperation, or someone else’s, they would not be able to behave that way.

I can respect that position, but I think it has tremendous repercussions in many aspects of our lives, when we consider all that we do and do not do, and how it impacts others.

3 additional arguments I’ve heard regarding how porn is bad.

1 – It creates unrealistic expectations about how real-life sexual partners should look. In other words, the women are more fit (sometimes), better weight, and better boobs than women. The men have bigger dicks. Also, the performers are better at sex that average.

I can kind of see that aspect of it. However, I think a reasonable intelligent person can recognize fact from fiction. It reminds

As someone who was definitely addicted to porn (saving thousands of images, having an account on motherless, spending hours edging) in my opinion it is toxic and as Monk said, spiritually degrading.

For sure if you want to release some back pressure it’s an easy way to get aroused but I’ve found it a lot more fulfilling to use my imagination. I don’t believe in nofap but there are definite benefits to not masturbating every single day.

Just get a fleshlight and unplug. I’m somewhat well endowed and always had women complain of soreness before I could get off. Not an issue with a fleshlight, I can go b~~~~ deep as long as I want lol.

You’re going to get as wide a variety of opinions on the spectrum, as there are varying men who subscribe to a MGTOW philosophy.

My, personal view?

Whatever substance one elects to feed himself off of, then the appetite for that substance will grow.

Choose to exercise to take your mind off stress? <—your appetite for exercise and healthy diet will grow.

My point is – some men view porn as toxic to the extent that it increases your appetite for sex, and thus makes you more susceptible to women.
