Is MGTOW a tactic for men to change society? Or to gain personal freedom?

There is a vibe, or underlying message I am seeing in some men on YouTube in their videos on MGTOW, down to Sandman’s revolution and so on.  That message is that the Sexodus will end up being so harsh that it will drive society to change as needed.  The idea is that, if enough men go MGTOW, then feminism will disapppear, gynocentrism will vanish, and we will have a world favorable to men, because it will change.  So, the idea I can see, men listen to this, is they believe they will just go MGTOW, it will have an effect of a strike and drive society to change?

Is that what MGTOW is about, a tactic to change society, the way a strike has with an employer?  Or is it more like a man quits his employer and goes to work for someone else, on his own, and doesn’t care what the employer does.  In short, it is society’s problem that a man does this.  It isn’t a strike at all.  A man goes MGTOW to strike out on his own, not wait for society to change as a result, and believing in some sort of mass brotherhood of members of a men’s union to cause their boss to change.

I feel the leaving an employer is more appropriate for MGTOW than the idea of a strike.  The strike idea seems to be an MRA’s tactic to change society.

Anyone else see this, and what are your thoughts here?

Gmow is good for me … end of. Should enough men do it … good for them ….. if all men do it … good riddence to the system.

MGTOW is about gaining personal freedom.

As a historian, let me tell you something :- Society will only change when it wants to change. Otherwise, you waste your resources trying to change it. 

Women did not flood the workforce because of some conspiracy theory. Women did so because the environment and economic situation finally allowed them to do so.

Women did not decided to start hate men because of feminism and promulgate male hatred. Misandry from women and their chivalrous male slaves has always been around, only now it is being expressed freely since society allows it and tolerates it.

Cold War did not end because of some Illuminati or Jewish interference.  It ended because one side found itself increasing unable to continue waging the war due to economic and social circumstances.

Herbivore Men and MGTOWs do not exist due to some depopulation or global immigration agenda. We exist because the environment and situation necessitated and facilitated their existence.

So do not bother to change society, for society will change itself. It just takes a long time. Instead, focus on making individual and personal changes, firstly to yourself and then to a few people close to you.

I believe the TRUE spirit of MGTOW is for personal freedom.  I am sure there are many guys here who wouldn’t be bothered at all if the world suddenly lost 99% of the population.

However, I imagine that others may use the MGTOW label as some sort of political leverage which I am CERTAIN every other movement does also in regards to its members.  Even with the dreaded feminism – there are some REALLY bad eggs that give feminism an even worse name – this has and will probably will continue for MGTOW.  But, seeing as our philosophy is to “go our own way”, people will interpret that as they wish to suit their own lives and agendas.

Marriage?  No thanks, i'm not ready to be THAT miserable.

I agree with Darth Sin; the very reason MGTOW works is BECAUSE it’s not a social movement or organized in any manner. Yeah, we talk on here but it’s not like there are marches or demonstrations for men to become MGTOW. The power lies in that each man, in his own time, comes to realize there’s nothing to be gained by following the “beaten road” society has made.

For myself, I chose it because it was the only sane road and I’ve come to believe it is the only road for men.

By it’s very definition Men Going Their Own Way is a personal adventure. That said if enough men go off on their own path than it can create a ripple effect through society as well whether it was the intended goal or not.

I know I like the idea of that as I cannot stand the Politically Correct bulls~~~ and enjoy seeing how their Cause has created this Effect.

Here’s reality. You are not a greedy f~~~. You contribute greatly to this forum. Your first avatar gave me the creeps and I’d always noticed it when it came up. So it’s noticeable about your positive contributions. If in doubt check your ratio of posts to stars. Men listen to you. With power responsibilty and yesterday lots of guys were saying well if that makes me an asshole then I’m an asshole.

Let’s not give the laydeez c~~~s of society an inch.  You aren’t greedy you are a result of the brainpilot’s synopsis of you’re nice to them they think it’s weakness they want half, it’s agreed to but then they don’t consider themselves as having crossed the finish line til they kick you to the curb.

You got your daughter which is hard to do in today’s court system.

Also, my hats off to you for getting us started to get KM to set up this site for safe donations. You think of us, you think of your kid, you think of KM. That’s generousity and not greed. And this is not f~~~ing ass kissing, it’s a warning that we’ve all got to gaurd against the fatigue that allows us to say negative things about ourselves like that. Women know not what generousity is any longer ie they expect everything thru entitlement. And women are the greedy ones by far when one looks at all their wants vs their void when it comes to contributions.

I think it’s more characteristic of a boycott then a strike.  A strike doesn’t work unless it’s done as a collective and is only useful for changing the company/society.  The ‘striker’ does want to work and get paid, just wants more pay or better working conditions.

If I’m boycotting McDonald’s, it means I chose not to eat there, because I don’t want to or I don’t like what the company does with the money I give them etc.  I would rather get my meals elsewhere.  The boycott is effective through personal satisfaction, even if you stand alone.  It may end up changing the company’s behavior if enough people boycott, but that’s a secondary effect.  As well, the boycotter may opt to continue the boycott even if the reasons for the boycott are removed.  Just because McDonald’s starts using higher quality ingredients (or whatever the problem is) doesn’t mean I want to eat there again, or that I’ve forgotten about their character and all is forgiven.  I have no obligation to eat there.

My path, is one of freedom. I have little to no expectation that society is going to change to correct the errors and gross anti-male attitude that society has been infested with. At least within my lifetime. MGTOW for me is able being who I am and not allowing myself to be shamed or manipulated into the role that society as a large wishes me to be.

I don’t share all of my opinions with all of the other members of MGTOW and I fully don’t expect to. As the title alone states: Men Going Their Own Way. Each man has a path and that path doesn’t have to be the same as any other man, because each man is his own man.

Thanks for the feedback.  A vibe I get from a number of men putting videos up on YouTube is the belief that if enough men sign up to be MGTOW, then suddenly the world is going to change (Sandman’s revolution), and I expect some men have a belief if they go their own way, that will some how be a bargaining position to change society so they can fit in better.  I feel anyone operating under that presumption is going to be very disappointed.  Now, I would agree that by walking away from something and dictating one’s own terms, that whomever tries to come into your life has to adjust.  I see one gets a better life out of things, while the world burns.

I live near the Himalayas.I see a lot of saints renunciate from material things,women, and takes up spirituality as their goal for centuries..When i asked one day one famous saint here The wise teachings they used to give is usually very truthful.I asked him  ,”did saints of previous generations ever get married and why they did not contribute to society as family and marrying women.”..The answer is shocking,” that very few women able to leave the greed of materialism to be able to live with them..They worship women goddesses but not enough women have any moral qualities and values to understand the true nature of spirituality..so they did not able to find good quality women for centuries..so they have to live monk(mgtow).so you should try to find a good goal in life,if you will be able to find good moral wife then only marry,otherwise you will waste ur life…””..so the crux of this is its more of our choice to chase passions and goals of our life rather than degraded women of this society..

I am looking to try to pick up tips from the saint/monk to help myself live better.  I know other MGTOW have a different path than that, but I find the way of the monk is likely the one I will learn the most from.

I am aware, from the Christian tradition, men who went off to the desert, because the world was just too out of kilter and they felt like they lost self-control and gained misery.  So, they would go off to the desert, and learn and meditate and master themselves.  The individuals ended up providing a moral anchoring for society, to help it gain sanity.  The university, I believe, originated from the monastic communities also.

Personal freedom here, I’m going my own way and loving it. Society can change if it wants, but I’m not going to waste my time or effort on trying to push that change, I’ve far more productive things to do.

There is no doubt in my mind that change will happen and that when it does it will be initiated by women when they finally catch on to what’s going on in the world. If it changes in time and sufficiently to my liking I might consider re-engaging but that engagement will be on nothing like previous terms, I’ve had too much time to learn and enjoy living for myself. If the change is too little and/or comes too late I won’t re-engage at all.
