I define rich as having options. I’m going to keep working until I have infinite options.

I actually enjoy working for myself, on my own agenda, on my own schedule. I’m in the process of moving away from employee land into Free Man Status.

Nothing beats having big ambitious projects to tackle. Moving to FL and golfing all the time would bore the p~~~ out of me.

    Ya gotta live for something

What are the other things ‘getting rich’ would enable you to do?

A small collection of very rich men with an interest in change control the world.

Hey atton, what do you think their change looks like?

Currently it is far from perfect in fact quite ugly. But ask yourself this what if a lot of those men where pro male, better yet what if a lot of them where pro male MGTOW.

A MGTOW is a man who is not a woman's bitch!

Hmm great. SO what I have infered from all the above post is that being rich does has some benefits and enables you to do a lot of things; at the same time its not really necessary to get rich if you’re only to fulfil society’s expectations.

Gettign rich by working something you like would be a dream come true. But what if things you like don’t make you rich; and then you’re pushed to do stuff you don’t like but will pay you to be filthy rich.. would it be realy worth it? What would you choose?

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

I want to wealthy so that I can be free in life. F~~~ working 9-5, 5 days a week for the next 45-55 years. I’m not going to be a slave who builds someone elses dreams and if getting rich young is the easiest way to do it I’ll bust my ass to achieve it.

Work is good for you. Not keeping sufficiently busy is how dementia and alzhemiers takes root. Your body is a machine that needs to be run/worked for it to remain operational.

Or with the way society is today, the more you have the more taxes you get to pay. I’d love to buy a house and a sports car, but haven’t done so yet because it’d cost me an extra 5,000 a year in taxes.

That’s also true. The government wants a piece of your pie. The more you have the more they want of it.

To me, the effort to become rich is worth it because:

    1) I don’t have to worry about getting a job, getting fired, or getting laid off.

    2) I don’t have to worry about having enough money to pay my bills.

    3) I don’t have to borrow money and figure out how I’m going to pay it back.

    4) I can pay my medical bills if my insurance company won’t cover the costs.

    5) I can hire people to do the mundane chores that I don’t feel like doing: landscaping, cleaning, etc.

    6) The more money I have, the more interesting experiences I can have (traveling, taking classes, going to events, etc.).

I have spent many years working and I feel like a fool because I have very little to show for it. I rent a one bedroom apartment, I drive a cheap car, and my job pays just enough for the basic necessities of life. I want more! I’ve never really experienced owning some good quality stuff. I would love to come home from work to a house that belongs to me! I want to relax on a leather couch and watch NBA games on a big screen TV. I want a Ford Mustang in my driveway, a music room with some guitars and amplifiers, and a refrigerator with cold beer & lunch meat. That’s my small slice of the American pie. I’ve never had those things…so I’m going to continue to work until I get them. I’m sure I’d be happy with that for a few years. But still…I’d want MORE. Sometimes I get tired of wondering how the other half lives. I want to actually experience life as a guy who has more money than he needs.

Its not that work is good for you, its that staying active is good for you. If your idea of retire is sit on the porch and kill a minimum of a 12 pack a day…you probably won’t keep your health very long. If your idea of retire involves staying physically active as well as pursuing knowledge and hobbies you don’t have to worry about decaying prematurely.

I don’t want to be rich, but I do want to be wealthy enough to be able to do the things I want to do. I’m pretty simple to please as far as entertainment goes. However, I do want to take up a few expensive hobbies such as traveling to other countries.

I also want to buy a decent home with more than 3 bedrooms. I could live in a smaller place, but I like bigger places more.

And fortunately in my field, once I get more experience, I’ll be making well over $100 thousand a year.

I also don’t plan on retiring because in my field, once you get more experienced in it, it’s fairly easy to do and I love doing it.

Had I married, the picture would be bleak. I have a friend who earns $400K a year and he will never be able to retire. The more he makes, the more his wife spends. He has told me many times, he thinks he will die at his desk working, just to keep up with her spending.

Keith, when I was married, I did the same. Now I don’t.

If it costs you your peace of mind, then it is too expensive.

Having the money is fine. But I don’t think the lifestyle is appropriate. The more you have the more you have to look after and the more you have to lose.

Can’t hurt to be rich. You could probably help a lot of men and veterans. For me, getting rich is a means to an end, not the end itself.

As a matter of fact I do. I own a 4 bedroom house that I used to rent out. It is now occupied by 4 veterans of the Iraq war. I provide the house free of charge as a transitional residence for these guys until they get on their feet. The VFW placed them there after a screening and selection process and all they have to pay are the utilities.

I am appreciative of their efforts on my behalf.

That is AWESOME. Thanks for doing that man.
