In an attempt to look at the origins of “Blue Pill”, I saw that it had appeared in Total Recall (original movie). There is also the Matrix movie also, I had assumed had a big part in it, and probably did. However, I also found “Blue Pill” refers to Viagra, and it seems it might fit also.

Anyone know the story of the Blue Pill history, in relation to MGTOW?

Well since the Matrix makers were heavily influenced by Ghost in the Shell, and Akira, it’s safe to say it may derive from those two.

Since in there, Akira, they consume pills, some of which who happen to be red and blue. Akira himself, which doesn’t even come in, far later, is mildly put, near god level, and he happens to be caped in red, also Kaneda not only rebels against the Government, but also against the rather extreme new group of super humans, and he happens to wear full red biker suit, which backside of his jacket has a dual coloured pill (Red(white)/Blue) with sometimes the text, “Good for health, Bad for education”, and his Bike, is also in full blown red.

It has the continual escalation of plots, and moves to higher grounds each time, till the very truth behind the core premise, is revealed. Pretty much like The Matrix series.

    Akira is from the 80’s.

Ghost in a Shell, has more with machines pure cybernetic assimilation between flesh and machine. It also has a more deep premise, behind, who controls who, where the limits lie, what’s humanity, who is evil, and who does what’s necessary. Whose a slave, and whose free.

From the FAQ, it comes from the movie the Matrix.

We aren’t technically trapped by the machines in a virtual reality but humans keep “playing” the rigged game, which is known for us as marriage – the matrix.
The Red pill men are set free and see the truth. They remain in wonderland.
The Blue pill men are the common ones such as manginas, white knights and married men. They aren’t free and got enslaved by their wives.

Source – Scroll down until you see “What is this blue/red pill reference” somewhere in the center.

"We are free to follow our own path. There are those who will take that freedom from us, and too many of you gladly give it. But it is our ability to choose – whatever you think is true – that makes us human. There is no book or teacher to give you the answers, to show you the path. Choose your own way! Do not follow me, or anyone else."

The term “taking the red pill to wake up” is from the 1990 Total Recall movie. A red pill was even show. But, the scene was a trick (we hope). But, the red pill/blue dynamic came from the original Matrix movie.
